Roughly where do you want to stop and how far off of I-95 are you willing to drive?

Somewhere past the half way point. No more then an 1hour off of 95. We are thinking possibly Hilton Head

King & The Prince on St Simons Island, without the crowds of HHI

Lots of good options in Hilton Head.  You could also stop off at the Westin Resort course in Savannah which is just minutes off of I-95.

I would hit HHI or push down south 2 more hours to Jacksonville (TPC Sawgrass).

Great suggestion. Beautiful course with some memorable holes. Underrated course in this area. Actually unknown is more like it.
