Club head and ball tracking, indoor/outdoor, normalization, wireless, iOS and Android support, sim integration, skills development/tracking. Did I mention $3995? (Current X2 Complete is $11000. TrackMan IIIe (without video) is $22000.)

http://fsxi.myflightscope.com

What we don't know yet:

Alignment camera? That leftmost symbol sure looks like a representation of an aperture.

Self-level? Doubt it at the price point.

Desktop integration (with existing FS software packages)? Again, doubt it. Think this is going to be a mobile-only device. There's got to be some major differentiation from the much more expensive models further up the product line. If so, will be interesting to see how they've tackled report generation and data export, both of which are important for instructional use.

Accuracy: Obviously the big question. Heard about this thing a while ago when it was still in development and was told unofficially it was as good as the X2. Hope so!

Real interesting product I think, with the potential to shake up the launch monitor market in a big way.

Ah, the long awaited personal FlightScope nears.  Wonder when....?  Advance info I have is that this is a "personal home model." The rest I'm in the dark about but looking for answers.

Trackman uses expensive technology to get the accurate results it gets. I wish that someone would come up with something that would be just as accurate and cheap for personal use but I don't see it happening, atleast not for a long time.

Love it!  My best guess is that the tipping point price for home use is probably $2K, so getting close.

That symbol on top far left is definitely an aperture icon (camera).

Actually I would bet it's a "setup" icon. But you never know. Note the arrow above it. No face on shots of the complete unit so who knows.  The X2c only operates the camera via USB so a wireless camera would be a logical next step.

If I had to guess, the cost of goods in a trackman is pretty low with most of the cost being R&D.  I am even more confidant that something like the foresight g2 (yes I am aware it is a bit different type of product) could be made much cheaper. But I am not sure there is a market for 500k/yr of these products even if the cost dropped to 1000 bucks or so. And without that type of volume, R&D costs will tend to dominate over production costs.

I heard this 3rd hand, so give it the credence it deserves. There may be a version (or, possibly, the only version may be) at $1,995 with just ball data (and club head speed).

Wouldn't really work for serious teaching or fitting, but great for home sims and pretty attractive against the Foresight GC2 at $6700.

The company line now is for this model to allow only mobile/tablet apps for data display. No computer integration is planned. Seems to be if you'd like a home sim from FS, the x1 or x2 is your only option.

There may be a software integration added later but probably for $$$$. Sim software companies (E6, Red Chain..etc.) charge $$$$ for licensing fees.

I just saw in their promo page that they're going to offer a Xi LE (limited editition) under the title affordable technology....

"The FlightScope Xi LE (Limited Edition) will be available early 2013 at an affordable price.

So does this mean that there will be the FS Xi for <$4k and the FS Xi LE for <<$4k?

Maybe Stretch was right is hearing that there may be a version released that is <$2k....that'd be a huge hit to all other LM's out there!

Well you can't run out and buy the personal Xi FlightScope quite yet...BUT....

Wait for it.....

You can as of today go to the App Store and download the new FlightScope Skills App.

If you have access to a FlightScope you can use this new app to test your skill and to compete with others....worldwide through http://www.MYFLIGHTSCOPE.COM

It's very cool indeed!!!

It's funny that so many people still believes it can do something that can easily be understood it can't. But they calculate it pretty well IMO and when you learn how to use it, it's big advantage. But when they start to build science around it... ouch...

I believe in a controlled setting the data can be accurate, such as using a pingman with perfect contacts, in the center of the club (not always the geometric center).  Unfortunately for us we are not all Pingman and its hardly a controlled setting.

Ha, funny as always.

I just feel like some things were never properly vetted, and taken as truths.

Look even some of the ball flight laws/d-plane, (insert whatever you want to call them) may need much more clarity.  I think thats why when you watch Joe Mayo in his ball flight videos he is very careful to always say "perfectly centered contact" or something like that.  Even then I believe there is to much error in the device to make conclusions about AoA, path, face angle.

Its better than most of its competitors but I think its worth closer to 1k than 25k.

Anyone heard any more info on this.

Searching around the net...I have seen some posts that say that this may not output some of the data(spin numbers etc) that the higher level units output for viewing.  Of course this seems to speculation, but has anyone heard any more concrete information as to what data would be available to the user?  It stinks, but I could understand them keeping some of the data hidden to make purchasing their higher end units a must for teachers/fitters.  Hope it's not the case though.

Just got this email from flightscope. Looks like no path, aoa etc.

"The FlightScope Xi will be the next generation 3D Doppler tracking radar from EDH, maker of the world's first 3D Doppler tracking radar technology for golf. The FlightScope Xi will be aimed at the consumer looking to improve their golf game while having fun. Features will include automatic leveling, patented boresight camera for target view, Wi-Fi connectivity to Apple and Android mobile devices and 2.5 hour battery life. The FlightScope Xi will be the smallest and most lightweight 3D tracking radar in existence. It will easily fit into a golf bag for ultimate portability. The FlightScope Xi will be operated using mobile devices running the FlightScope Skills App and other future FlightScope Xi compatible mobile Apps. Using the FlightScope Skills App with the FlightScope Xi users will be able to create, play and review challenges by joining MyFlightScope.com. The FlightScope Xi will track the ball from launch to landing. The data will be limited to carry, total & lateral distances, club speed, ball speed and smash factor. FlightScopeXi will be able to be used both outdoors and indoors and will require a minimum total distance of 18 feet from radar to net for indoor use."
