Has anyone played these 588 Hybrid irons set? How do they compare against the HB3's? They boast a forged club face for better feel. Feel is definitely
an area the HB3's can improve on. Forgiveness is certainly where it shines.

I'd also like to know ... I've been bagging the original Hibore irons since they came out and have resisted upgrading to the second generation Lxi irons and third generation HB3s.  These new 588 Altitudes are really intriguing ... anyone?

Mike,

I have enjoyed my HB3's. But, the advantages are off set by some limitations in feel & looks etc. I believe these 588's are not out yet.

Just found this thread again ... after the first of the year, I went and purchased a used set of CG Blacks last month with the thought that if the irons didn't work for my game I could trade them in for either a used set of HB3s or possibly a new set of Altitudes. However, I am still interested in the question above, and hope you (and others) can share your thoughts on the comparisons between the HB3s and the Altitudes.

Thanks in advance,

Mike

I'm in the market for new SGI clubs, and have narrowed the ones I really like down to the Mizuno JPX800 HD and the Cleveland HB3. I'd really like to try the new 588s too.

The interesting thing would be to follow up on Cleveland's advice and mix the set up, maybe using one or two MT mid trajectory shorter irons.  The problem would be trying these clubs out, since you usually only get demo 6 or 7 irons at best.

You can't go wrong with the HB3. I bought them at 699. I am sure they are around for half that price and that would be a deal. The HB3's will improve your ball striking and the feel and look will appear better over time. I am still curious about the new 588s, especially the high handicap version. They didn't improve them much in the looks dept though. I guess max forgiveness and looks do not go together.
