Yes, I know..."Old Skool." I am a teacher, sorry.

Anyway, what have you got for me? HAS TO BE CONFORMING - no super Mack Daddy grooves that you could shave your beard with. Looking to pair with a set of Mp-33's for a slightly retro bag.

PING Eye2

Cleveland 588 tsc

What else? How about a list?

Cleveland 485, 588, or 900, or Vokey 200 or 400.  Don't put a cavity back wedge next to those MP-33s!

Old school and conforming?  Golf is an old sport,... so assuming you don't want hickory shafts, square grooves, rusty Clevelands, just get the wedges that match the irons you're going to use or the wedges Mizuno will replace with their newer wedges but the same finish.

588 RTG. Played them long after they went away, and now they're back as the "forged" version

The grooves on the "pre 2010" Cleveland wedges (including the various derivatives of the 588 series) do not comply with the conditions of competition. So going truly retro with Cleveland will not be in compliance with the conforming groove rule.

For some odd reason, the 33's conform, but a lot of the old R and T series wedges don't!

I couldn't even believe that my 52's were conforming, because they spin so much!

Yeah, not really my preference anyway. Might take another look at the Vokey 200/400's, but sheesh...those things still pull a dollar!

It appears that most of Mizuno's "MP" line of irons conform. Although the MP-14 and the MP-29 irons weren't listed on the USGA's database, I remember seeing a WITB thread photo at a Symetra Tour event where a young lady bagged a set of MP-29s. The MP-30 and later are referenced and conforming. My guess is that while the design of the heads changed the groove technology didn't.

The Hogan series that was BeCu. I still have the 52/55/56/60. I play them sometimes in the fall. Something about copper wedges in the fall is just the best.

Do you consider the Ping iWedge old enough?  As a mid-capper, this is by far the easiest wedge I've used for full swing shots from tight lies.

How far back is 'old school'? Wilson JPs, Hogan Sure Outs and others, Eye2s, 588s? Lots of them still in use. Remakes of the Eye2s (XGs) and 588s. LOL at those calling Vokey 200s 'old school.' It's relative. No offense to anyone.

Hogan Forged wedge. Fantastic balance, workable bounce. Elegant. No longer made. Older Cleveland 588s. Cast but consistent. Nice weighting, good bounce. Elegant look.

Don't worry, it isn't because I am trying to be a tour poser.

Something on the order of the old X-Forged or a Zip groove wedge just shred balls for me. I am thinking about putting the Fg-Tour ball into play with this set, but if I do they won't last long. Also, I am a high spin wedge player - full shots rip off the green.

I have sets of Mizuno, Vokey and Yururi that are non-conforming, so it might be nice to try something else. I have had a couple newer ones (Mp-r12, Mp-t11, etc.) but I figured since the irons are older it might be fun to try wedges that are older as well. Worst case scenario is I send them off to Jim Kronus for a little touch up.

I Played with a guy years ago who used that thing for all his short game shots and he was pretty good at getting the ball close with it!

Most pre 2010 wedges are non-conforming to the groove rule.  This rules out just about all "old school wedges".

I shouldn't have to tell you that Jack Pearsall is always right, but he is.   Hogan Forged were amazing, still are. I had a 50/10 that was the best single wedge i have ever had.

Space..... The final frontier.

My father-in-law carries one of these and Cleveland VAS irons.  I'm not even kidding.  Seriously just image this for minute.  He's brilliant and wealthy though.
