Quick question. Will Golfsmith negotiate on prices of used equipment or do they stick to the price listed?

They'll negotiate somewhat.  Just have a price in mind and go for it.

Any suggestions on how low? My local gs has a very pretty ping redwood sitting there used for $150. Was hoping for closer to 120. Think they'd go for it?

Yeah, suck it up, walk in the door, and go for it.  You're asking for 20% off, which isn't that unreasonable, especially with likely holiday sales coming up.  If they've only got it priced at $150, then it's a newer trade in so they're maybe $75-90 into it.  Plus it's not even the current model of milled putters for Ping.  It wasn't long ago they had 30% off all used clubs, which is when I got my Nome.

yes, they'll haggle a bit on used club prices. it helps if you're familiar with someone there..

I don't know if all golfsmiths are the same, but the one near me has the date it was traded in on the sticker.. usually if it's been there a while, they'll be happy to go lower or check at least.

From my expierience, it just seems to  be luck of draw of when you're in there and who you're talking to. A couple of times I've had really good luck negotiating a lower price, but the last couple of times they wouldn't budge even a little bit (when I could get someone to even talk to me). I think you need to find a manager (black shirts?) to talk to to have any chance.

FWIW, this has been in the south Denver store just off I25.  Good luck!

Thanks for the info. I'll have to figure out when I can make a trip over there.
