Three quarter gap wedge, doesn't everyone on WRX hit that from 200?

Seriously though, in the right conditions a 5i, sometimes a 4i.

I try to hit all my irons smoothly, so I would pull a 24º 4i for 200yds.  I could get a 27º 5i there, but would lose some accuracy.

If there's a helping wind, I need a draw, or there's room to be short......4 iron
High shot needed or room to fade...7 wood
Prefer the 4 but that hard fade fw is becoming a favorite shot lately.

Yes, I said 7 wood.

In ideal conditions with no elevation change in the shot it's a 4 iron @ 400' above sea level and a 7 iron at 8000', but yesterday I played a 192 yard par 3 that has an elevated tee box (200' drop) and I hit an 8 iron pin high.

amazing how so many of you guys hit it as far as Rory Mcilroy (5 iron - 200 yards).
i guess his are Irish yards and US yards are a bit shorter.
my Tommy Armour 845 2 iron goes about 200 when i manage to hit it half well.
my old Hogan persimmon 4 wood used to also.
anyhow i am getting used to be outdriven by 60 metres by strong young studs who miss the green with a wedge and  make the same 4 i do.

I've been wrestling with that distance all season.  Usually my Speedline LP 7 wood. Sometimes my Ci11 4 iron. Sometimes my Nickent 6dt 4 hybrid.  The hybrid and iron aren't very consistent. The 7 wood is a pretty safe bet, unless I catch one and then it's going over the green.

Of course it was always a given that someone was going to post what you did, but i don't agree. 5 iron is not a crazy club to hit 200yds though it is a nice poke and you need some swing speed to do it. By my quick count over half the answers (excluding the obvious joke ones) have been 4 iron or less which really isn't crazy. I hit a 4 iron 200yds and my driver SS is about 110 right now, fast but not crazy for a 30 something and i don't even take that big a cut at it. I'm not even one of the top 15 biggest hitters at my club.

i used to hit a 5 iron 200yds fairly easily. Given the median age of this site, the tendency for longer hitters to post in threads like this etc etc....i really don't dispute the answers

I can't hit the green from 200 yards.  I don't think I've hit it all year.

Last year its a MP53 5 Iron all day.  This year it's 4 or 5 iron pull hook 180 yards short and left.  Usually a smother hook.

My game has gone to shiiiiit and im glad the season is over lol
