Depends where I'm playing; here in Portland Or my 200 yd club is a 3i. If I go to Bend Or, its a 4i.

Yet he hit a 505 yard par 4 in the British open with 2-iron 7-iron andmade the 15 foot putt for birdie. Explain that please.

Here in the Pacific Northwest, yardages clubs produce can vary wildly.  In mid-November, I'll either hit a solid 2-hybrid, a 3-hybrid draw, or even a high-sweeping 3-wood fade (slice).  In the summer, I can get a 5-iron draw or a smooth 4-iron 200 yards.  But it totally depends on temperatures and what shot works best.  I like hitting high fades from that distance.

Just b/c you can nut it once in awhile and get mad yardage doesn't mean you have to nut it every time.  Yes, I can hit my 7 200, but that doesn't mean I'm going to take the chance and over swing.  I'd rather hit my 5 or 4 well within my limits.

Currently would be a 3 or 4 hybrid depending on conditions or where the trouble is.

2 years ago it would be 7 iron anywhere from 200-220 (with a WRXer in my group that saw it enough times to not be shocked by it). I miss those days, albeit I am much better through the entire bag now.

Depends on conditions, time of year, elevated green of lower.  Typical stock mid season 200 will be a 5 iron.  6 to 7 iron if down hill, up to 3 hybrid depending on how into the wind.

in between a 5 and 6.

This year im going to make it a 5 iron.  I've decided to swing 80% this season instead of 98%.  Take the lesser club.

Depending on conditions, either a 4 iron or a real soft 3H.

During the summer, calm to no wind, flat ground, I would choose a smooth 5 iron.

5 iron - 205 stock
6 iron - 190 stock

No brainer...

I'm in between clubs at 200. I would hit either a smooth, easy 3h or get on a 4 iron

I said 19* hybrid in November but it's closer to my 4 iron now. I still don't understand how it's possible to hit a 6 iron that far.

At the moment over here in the UK with the cold (around 1 deg during play) I am hitting my 4 wood 200 yards, normally it would be a 3 Hybrid 20deg, as even in the summer it don't get much above 29-30 in Wales :)

Delofting the club and swinging 100% would probably be the answer for most who actually say a 6 iron is their 200 club.  I also deloft the club slightly in my swing and at 200 I am probably swinging a 5 unless I have trouble short, then I have a 4 in my hands.

In real life that math does not make sense BUT on the golf course, that is one of the smartest things you can do. God I love this game
