The hybrid vs. 5 wood argument has given me an itch I need to scratch.

My 19* 909h used to fill the gap between my three wood and 4 iron but I'm hitting both of them about 10 yards further now due to changing clubs so the 909h doesn't carry far enough anymore.  FWIW I use a TEE XCG3 three wood but the 5 wood wasn't working for me.  Too large, too much spin, and I would prefer a steel face.

Anyway, I'm looking for a clean looking 5 wood in the 18 to 19 degree range.  I don't get along with shallow face fairways so a deepish face height is preferred.  I already have a blueboard 93s waiting.  I'm not looking for the newest, longest thing out there.  Just clean looks, feel, and a square face.  I was thinking an older callaway or perhaps a 906f2.  Any thoughts on these and others?

I'm partial to the Adams Speedline LP fairways. Small head, square face, high launch/low launch depending on my swing.

+1   Just keep cutting it down until it goes "short" enough to fill your gap.  Spin will not be a problem, I can almost promise.

bridgestone j33. by far the best fairway I have used. Next would be the rapture v2.

Only deep faced 5 woods I can think of off the top of my head is:

Nike Vr Pro Limited
Titleist 909F3
Srixon ZTX Tour
Ping Rapture
TEE CB2

Love my Nike VR LE, tons of distance and excellent control.  The bottom half of the face is forgiving for shots caught low, really excels in my opinion.

I recently picked up a mizuno mp titanium 5 wood (18*).  It's clean, feels great and simply launches. Pretty cheap as well.

It doesn't get any better than a R9 5 wood. It looks great, sounds great, and is easy to hit. Do yourself a favor and pick one up.

I had a 19* 904F that was my go to club for basically any shot for a couple years. Easily one of the most versatile 5 woods I've ever hit, and I'm sure you could pick one up for a song these days.

If you're looking for a deep faced FW, stay away from callaway in general.  Obviously in the store you can see them for yourself and pass your own judgment but I've yet to see a Cally FW that had a deep face.  906F2 or 909F3 would be a good choice, R9 is very versatile and had a mid face height but plays a little deeper.  The Nike FW's like the LTD, SQ2 are on the deeper side of mid and hit great.  Have a BB 93 in a SQ2 myself and it is one of the better combos I have hit.

Callaway X 2008.

Deeep face and looks compact but still forging from above.

When if comes to fairway's I think it is very subjective. Different mfgr's look appealing to different people....or otherwise....

Ping I20 very clean looking, neutral bias with a classic shape. I also like the fact it isn't overly large. I wouldn't call it deep faced but not overly shallow great club IMO

As a loyal Ping guy it pains me to say, but it is the truth. Look at some of the older Titleist FW woods. Lots of them still around and in play. Darn good woods with deep faces. Ping Rapture also. ( as opposed to some of the others today)

For several years I played a steel Cleveland Launcher 19* 5 wood. It sets up square is deep faced and plenty hot. Also, they can be found dirt cheap.

Loved my 904F but I have no use for it anymore. PM me if you're interested. I've been looking for a 2 hybrid also maybe a trade is in order? Haha

I love my 17* 910F. I'm playing it at 18.5*. Very playable out of most lies and I'm a bad fairway wood player. Good luck with your search.

I just pulled the trigger on a 906f2. If that doesn't work out you all have provided a bunch of alternative options. Thanks!

Here's an out of the box suggestion. Pick up a TEE CB2 21* 7 wood.  Compact little deep faced club. It's honestly my favorite club in the bag right now. Drop that blueboard 93s in it and thank me later....  profusely :)

When the "old guys" are banging driver at the range I smooth this 7 wood 20 yards past 'em. Soooo much fun.

I went from a 19 Bridgestone j36 to an R11 Ti 18 degree 5 wood with a Serrano shaft (I know this may not be the look you want) but i have a lot of confidence hitting it, and being able to adjust the loft and face angle allows me to move around the rest of my bag (changing the loft to 17 degrees on a shorter course and keeping the 3 wood at home and bagging a 3 iron or hybrid to keep 4 wedges)

I play Tour Edge exotics (xcg5) fairway metals(3-5-7) and find them to be extremely easy to hit and they are very long! I am a 12 handicapper and haven't found anything else that works better for me.
