Maybe it's just me, but I have always wanted my graphics facing up with my shaft installations. But apparently, this is not the norm. Every time I buy a driver with an aftermarket shaft installed it has the graphics facing down. Every friggin shaft I buy with an R11 adapter in is installed with the graphic down and I end up having to remove the damn adapter and turn it over. The real kicker was the Diamana 'ilima I got over the summer was the same. Beautiful graphics and all I see is a bland chrome shaft.  What the hell is up with people? I know I've seen some say that the graphics are distracting, but come on! It's not like someone farting in your backswing. Jeez!

Sorry for the rant, but I just received another shaft I wanted to try for my driver and, you guessed it, graphics down.

Funny. It never ceases to amaze me how many little visual things distract people playing this game. A nick on a driver crown, a scuff on a putter, dirty shoes.

I'm bad enough at the game that I still need to focus on the ball or I'll swing and miss. I never notice all that other stuff.

As a club builder I've encountered all kinds of requests as far as shaft orientation, and I have to say, logo up is pretty rare. And usually when people do ask for it, they say that they want to use the graphics to help them line up (which in my opinion is not a good reason, but to each their own). Wanting to appreciate the "art" of the graphics seems to be a better reason. Luckily for you, removing adapters and reinstalling them is a piece of cake.

Not difficult, Yes. Piece of Cake, No. Set up the puller, slowly heat the adapter, clean the crap off the shaft and out of the hose, reshaft and wait till tomorrow, it's a friggin PITA! It would be okay if it was just sometimes, but EVERY TIME! I honestly think it's because the pros install them that way (mostly if they don't have a deal with the manufacturer. No deal....No Logo). There are a lot of really nice looking shafts out there and it just irks me to find a deal on one and have to go through the whole removal / reshaft thing to enjoy it. BAH!!

Once I focus on the ball I never really recognize the graphics on the shaft.  Everybody is different

Its all about retail; the graphics are placed "logo down" in the playing position so that they are visible when the club is on the rack to entice the consumer.

It started with someone on Tour.  I don't remember who, but a PGA Tour player had graphics installed logo down, for some reason or another.  This was seen on TV, and everyone started doing it to imitate the Tour players.

And if you get your shafts spine aligned the logo position is a lottery!

I ordered a new Oban and had it installed in my Encore. I told the club maker to put the Golf Pride logo up on the New Decade and he laughed, he said that most people install everything label down, reason he says is because guys like Tiger put everything down because he is not getting paid by the OEM. People see the pros do it and they follow.

+1 Can't stand seeing all that stuff on top of the shaft. Looks cheap. Just like any logos or marks on the crown of a driver. That swoosh on top of the new Nike driver is abysmal.

Maybe other people don't care, but if that d@&n grip logo if strong or weak it's just as bad is if the graphics were just a little off. The OCD in me just cannot allow that to happen. Logos down, please. The only exception for me was the RIP I played for a while. Those graphics were too cool not to see.

Great product design is often very clean. Lines, form, shape, etc. Less is More is the key design adage. With the shaft graphics down it's easier to appreciate the club as a whole unit rather than individual parts - grip, shaft, ferrule and head.

But it's your toy, so anything you want is what's best for you. Once you address a ball everything besides the ball and face vanish.

Shaft - either pured, or spine aligned - but would prefer logo down for the subliminal symmetry it creates

Grip - Many of us started going grip logo down long ago, not because of Tiger or any other pro, but because it took very little time to install a grip and get it "close enough" when you put the logo down, versus spending 1-2 minutes to align the grip after sliding it on. As long as you aren't using ribbed grips. Again, the clean symmetry is good.

I recently ordered a Motore Speeder Tour Spec and a Graphite Design Tour BB from Titleist for my new 912 D3, I did not specify logo orient, and when I received them, they both arrived with logo down.. so Titleist must do it that way as standard..

Let me get this straight....showing the logo of a $300 shaft looks cheap, but just the plain 1 color shaft doesn't? What are you dyslexic?

I just laugh at some of this. I spine/flo my shafts, so they (graphics) end up where they end up. As for grips, I could care less. Put the lable at 12, 1, 10, 11, whatever o'clock, I don't care. I never look at the grip or my hands when gripping a club or addressing the ball. And I certainly don't see the shaft label. Maybe some people need to work on their concentration a bit?

This is the main reason I like the logos up. I don't really even notice them when playing, but I like them showing. Especially the Diamana's! They're friggin ART!
