I have subscribed to Golf Digest for the last 2yrs but now that my renewal is coming up I am wondering if I need it. I want to support the magazine and the last thing I would want is for the magazine to stop being printed..... after all what would I do when my wife convinces me to go to the grocery store if they didn't have golf mags ... or when I take the kiddoes to Barnes and Nobles... but all the same content is available online. I know newspaper subscriptions are at an all time low and many magazines have ceased to exist because of lack of subscriptions but darn why pay for it when my neighbor gets all the same info I do except I pay for it ... not to mention the stacks of magazines I have and can't get myself to throw away....... does anyone here subscribe to any golf magazines and if so have you considered not  renewing due to all the free info available online.

I hear you but it's so ridiculously cheap, I decided to reup last year.  I think $12 for the year, bring your lunch to work one day a year and it's paid for.    Yes, all the content is available online, but it makes for good browsing material and I do enjoy the preview issues of all the majors during the summer.

It's cheap, there are usually a couple good articles a month, and you won't feel bad if you accidentally drop it in the bowl, unlike that phone or tablet, when you're enjoying some alone time after that morning cuppa.

I know in Michgian if you have a Handicap thru GAM you get your subscription for free.

Look at getting a Handicap with your state golf association, lots of perks and a registered handicap

I would keep it going. It's cheap enough and you can still read it in places where you may not have access to a computer.

That said, I canceled my subscription to Golf World. I took great offense to a story they ran about Nicklaus campaigning with Romney in Ohio and publishing his views about what he feels is wrong with America. OK, I admit I'm a Democrat but, irresepespective of party affiliation, that type of nonsense has no business whatsoever in a sports publication. And I'd say the same thing if Nicklaus had campaigned for Obama. Leave that stuff out!

I'd be surprised if you don't or haven't received a slew of renewal offers...or if you actually let it run it out, i'm sure you will get all sorts of "we want you back" offers.   What is the renewal price they are offering you?

I would rather read it in magazine form....and there is only one place that I read it too! Heck, I'm looking to take on a few more subscriptions.

I had a subscription for years. My first issue was the 2000 Tiger Woods copy - I still have it downstairs somewhere. That said, I haven't had a subscription in a few years, and I don't miss it at all. I pick up the occasional issue when I am at the airport or something, but that is about it. I realize they are a sponsor here, but half of the mag is advertising.

The only two things I found myself keeping the subscription for was the WITB (page), which can be found online here (or at least it could until Gachet was driven out) and David Feherty's column, which is the only consistently interesting part of any issue (or was that Golf Magazine?...I don't remember).

The instruction articles are very inconsistent, and as an educator that was a BIG turnoff. They don't appear to really be intended for actual use, but rather as a means to promote certain "name" instructors. I mean, can the average guy just submit an instruction piece to GD and expect to get it published if they aren't coaching a Tour pro? I am guessing not. I am guessing also that some of the big Tour pros who "contribute" to the magazine are just signing their names to content somebody else wrote.

I just figured I don't need to pay a couple bucks a week for that.

I like them for the pictures.  :)  Plus, I never pay full price for them.

I quit golf mag. simply because of the travel filler they had in that magazine. It might be for some but not for me. I just ripped up my last? renewal offer from Golf digest yesterday. Perhaps down the road I'll renew but the instruction is just regurgitation IMO. Everything I generally pick up on the golf swing is really from guys right on this forum like Monte etc.; why do I need golf magazines?

DiscountMags has Golf Digest for $4.99/year today and 3 years for $13.99 ... I've never been a GD subscriber. Is it worth it? Is the digital subscription free with the paid subscription?

The cardboard cover on the last issue before your subscription ends is enough for me to stop.  Removing gives me the same heebie jeebies as scratching nails on a chalkboard.

Last year during Supoer Bowl weekend, a website (I don't recall which  but it's  amagazine subscri[tion websote) had Golf Digest for $4 a year. A three-year subsricption was just $10.   Kind of a no-brainer, especially for someone who prefers a paper magazine (just like I always call golfsmith and golfworks to send me compnent catalogs so I have something to physically look at and read).
