Is this the course in Nova Scotia? My dad grew up there and one of his freinds invited me and my dad to play once it was finished. I haven't checked the site in a while but it's supposed to be an absolute gem.

EDIT: Just checked the website, thats the nicest course I've ever seen, period! Look at #14!

Edit 2: turns out I have a freind that lives literally minutes from the course!

The amount of times they've bandied about the 'L' word on their website, I sure hope it plays firm.
Hopefully New Englanders will see this and others on the east coast see this a great chance to play seaside golf and it thrives :)
Cape Breton is not the most accessible place.

Certainly a misused and overused term.  But this course is built on a sand base and has all fescue turf, two big factors in its favor.

It should be mentioned that a second course by Coore and Crenshaw, is in the early routing stages.

I think he is a a part owner with another guy who started it, whose name escapes me at the moment.  Read about him the last Links Magazine.

Keiser came in to add in $$, the guy behind it all is Ben Cowan Dewar.  They have also broken ground on Cabot Cliffs, a second course by Bill Coore.

I played Cabot Links a few days after the opening this past July.  While the greens were understandably slow it already was playing with the firmness of a true links.  That included using a couple less clubs on a many holes to land short and run the ball up. As a huge fan of courses like the West Links at North Berwick and the like I can say it really is a links experience right here in North America.

It truly is amazing and I cannot wait to get back for more rounds. Just a joy to play.  I was smiling the whole time. A gentleman I played with was from Memphis and was camping nearby with the intention of playing the course once - he was on his 4th round in 3 days and planned to play a couple more before leaving.  It was that enchanting

The hotel is simple, 48 rooms, but well appointed and the views are incredible - facing the water and golf course.  Even my 6 year old daughter woke up at 5 to watch the sunrise for a couple hours.  She was mesmerized at the beauty, as was I.

I am sure you'll love it tyorke1 - worth the drive from the Island.

I'm on the West Coast and while I sincerely want to play it, it's hard to justify the travel/expense over Bandon Dunes.
