So I have made my decision about where  I will be playing collegiate golf! I am going to go play for NCAA DII Brevard University in Brevard, NC in the Spring of 2013. I went up last week to visit the campus and just loved it! The coach and my new teammates were great as well! The team has kind of an international feel to it as only 3 of 10 players (including myself) are from the USA. There are 2 guys from Finland as well as 2 from Sweden, one from Canada, one from Mexico, and one from China. They are a great group of guys and there will be some good competition for the tournament spots! I'll also be getting reoutfitted in all new TITLEIST gear! :D ahhh the perks of college golf! They have a deal with Titleist which means I can also keep on playin my V1 X. I am looking forward to January and moving into school there and getting it started! I will be keeping y'all updated as I progress on this journey!

Take care everyone and keep it in the short grass!

Chad

Looks from your sig that you like the Titleist gear so you should be good to go on that front. Congrats on your choice and enjoy. I will be looking forward to your updates as I'd be interested in hearing about the inner workings of college golf as I didn't do it myself at Uni.

Congrats to you and have a blast. College can be a lot of work, but also one of the best times of your life. Just curious..... do you HAVE to play Titleist gear, or is that what you have to play if you want the school to outfit you with new clubs?

I can play whatever I choose, and I would get it at a discounted rate, but because they have a deal with Titleist I get all new stuff with all custom options for next to nothing!!

That's great Chad! It's also nice that your golf team is so "cosmopolitan". It sounds like you'll have a great year. :-)

I am heading up on Friday to play a round of golf with a couple of my new teammates! I could not do this before because I did not have a recent physical exam (NCAA Rules) I am not sure what course I'll be playing but I will let yall know all the juicy details when I get back on Friday! Take care everyone!

Hey everyone!

I got up to Brevard about 10:45 yesterday morning, met with an admissions counselor. Then I met with my golf coach and took a campus tour along with a female  golf recruit and a baseball player! It is a small school only about 700 students. After the tour I met all the guys on the team and they are all hilarious, they know when to be serious but we all get along and have a lot of fun! We played the back 9 at Glen Cannon Country Club. I played with the 2 guys from Finland and the guy from China. I had never seen the course before so I really had no idea what to expect. It was in decent shape, the greens were extremely hard and I had a tough time getting the ball to stop. I think I ended up shooting 40 which wasnt bad for playing the course blind and not having a warm up! Then we went out to eat and I headed home! It was a good day and I'll be moving up there in January!

Take Care Everyone and I'll keep you posted on any new updates that come my way!

Had a female golf recruit show you around, I see some things are the same whether it's a small Div III school or the USC football program :)

Seriously, congrats and good luck to you.  Keep us posted with your progress.

Hey everyone,

I thought I would share my latest with you.. and I have had some bad news but I've been taking it in stride.

Basically I got cleared by the NCAA, but I did tell them about 2 tournaments I played in during the fall of 2012. I did not know that I wasn't allowed to do this. Apparently according to the NCAA, I had from until I graduated HS (June 2011) until August 2012 to play in golf tournaments, which I did. But I played in 2 tournaments in October and because I did that they took a year of my eligiblity and are making me sit out a year.. And I was not getting any money from Brevard so I decided that it would be in my best interest if I looked for a Junior College to go to then Transfer in when I feel the time is right. Currently in the running are Andrew College in GA, USC Lancaster in SC, and Pima Community College in AZ. This has been a real disappointment for me not being able to go to Brevard in the spring but at least I will be able to play right away at a JUCO. I thank you all for your support and will keep you updated on what I have going on!

Sorry to hear that. But it's good to hear you'll be able to play JuCo golf. Sometimes I don't get the NCAA. It's not like you were getting paid or anything.

Best of luck! :-)

I didn't know Bubba went to Faulkner State.  I had two buddies go to Faulkner in the early 90's.  Mobile AL right?  One of them managed to play 6 years of college golf LOL.  Don't ask me how.
