Sources say that Callaway has laid off or dissolved their relationship with a total of 45 staffers from the PGA, Web.com and LPGA Tours....

Can we get confirmation of this from our resident Callaway Exec?

It is exactly this type of thing that causes me to LOVE This Site so much! You hear something and want to know whats going on, all you have to do is ask!!!

Thanks to Callaway_Harry for the clarification, as open and transparent as he is, there should never be a reason for not having your story straight, especially when the Horse doesn;t dodge any questions!

Funny, a few weeks ago, a poster in the original Callaway thread said that a move like this was coming.  He was told, flat out, that it was NOT true.  Interested to see the spin on this now!

If they aren't in the winners circle or on TV whats the point of carrying a crazy amount of staffers?  Quality is better then quantity IMO.

You have to start out somewhere! Everyone that plays on the tour or tours, starts out without a win!!! and you can only have what 35 winners a year, with over 144 most weeks trying to get wins, there are a lot of guys that fail to win each year!

The journalist who "broke" this story did not attempt to ask anybody from here if it were true or what was the real story.

No. Wrong. That's why Callaway is in the mess they are in. They went high-dollar quality over buying the whole field. It's why everyone is playing a white driver instead of a square one.

Good communication on Callaway's part.  This is why I love this site and am a fan of Callaway.

Just to put a bow on this. The rumor that was spread was that we had a layoff today and that it affected our PGA professional and Pro tour staffs, which is absolutely not true.

We did have a streamlining of some of our operations about 10 days ago that touched a few different areas. Departments in Carlsbad and Canada were impacted but no changes were made in our Tour or Pro Tour areas.

I just wanted to make that clear.

Harry is a breath of fresh air. I was a Callaway staffer a couple years ago and while I couldn't quote get the products to work for my game they were amazing to me. Just a wonderful bunch of people. They treat you right. Nothing but praise.

No. Just not doing any direct development on this one. In our earnings call a few weeks ago we talked about this pretty directly. Looking for 3rd party partners rather than going at it alone.

You cant ask for it any better! There is something to be said for an OEM that you can question at 5:00pm on a Friday and have an answer by 5:20pm... No spin here, just a business making business choices. When I read the tweet I thought man this will get major pub! Because I have a few friends that are staffers, I wanted to know the answer and Harry delivered the goods, as always!
As an FYI, I dont know Harry personally, and I dont currently play Callaway, although I used to...

Harry, Would a smaller android and Apple GPS producer not jump at the chance of teaming up on the UPro. There are a couple of the lesser names there who produce very nice products but are behind in the market share.
