This was good.

It reminded me of a bobby knight rant when IU kept losing to Purdue in the 90s.

I played against this team a few times back when I was in college from 00-02.  I dont remember their coach or a whole lot about them but I cant imagine a Christian school liking that rant too much.

If he wants better players maybe he should try getting a coaching job at a D-1 school where they offer athletic scholarships.  Maybe there is a reason he's coaching D-III.

Yep!

The women's coach will be filling his spot.

There would be one slightly used golf coach standing on the side of the freeway.

I know this guy personally and have played golf with him.  I think they won the d3 championship a few years back, and he is a good player on top of everything else.  So much for being a coach, don't think he will be doing it again anytime soon.  On golfchannel it says a player filmed it...wonder how the others are treating him at this moment?

anyone who has played any kind  of competitve sports knows that it goes with the territory to have a melt down once in awhile... i think its worse that it was taped by some little bedwetter who from what i understand should just be happy to be on the team!

Men acting like men, and trying to elicit a response that helps men perform at a higher level.

I've actually heard worse while on the receiving end of a pep talk in a game we were WINNING....

Really?  Any other competitive sporting experience other than golf?

Seems about on par with most football and baseball locker rooms I've ever been a part of....though I only read the text, did not listen to the audio.

It's kind of sad, but this is not new. But the fact that he's recorded and then it gets posted is sort of the new world, and then 400,000 people listen to it outside of the context of a coach ripping a team for playing like garbage. It's hard to justify the guy's rant to someone who hasn't played team sports at a real competetive level where jobs and careers are on the line, and maybe it isn't 'right' at the collegiate level, or for that matter at a 'Christian school', but he WAS trying to motivate them, and to get fired over it, man, that sucks. These are young men, adults legally, who if they are anything like Jack Pearsall, have heard coaches chew them out like nobody's business - like that coach did. So, it is pretty sad all around. Maybe the coach has been a dickwad, or a total nut job for some time? We don't know.

On par with football and baseball? This rant was PG compared to football and baseball coaches.

Maybe when the other poster said "children act like that" he was referring to the little snitch that taped the rant. Real men don't snitch.

A golf coach trying to verbally intimidate his team? Really? This is hilarious on multiple levels. I'll just leave it at that.

He's a member at my home club back home in Michigan. I really can't say a bad thing about the guy other than a team that won the national championship a few years ago and failing to break the top 5 and even top 10 in tournaments. I can sense his frustration. Obviously it wasn't the right way to go about it, but Matt is a hell of a player and person. All about family at home, too.

Actually I'll add my 2˘... Me personally, after shooting a terrible round like these guys did apparently Ii am usually pissed at myself. I don't need anyone else to get in my s***. I had enough of that in hockey growing up. It would take some serious restraint by me not to punch this coach square in the nose. This is golf.. Not football, not hockey- GOLF. We don't know the whole story obviously (maybe they were joking and nobody cared that they jus lost their a**) but still, golf- THE gentleman's game should not be like that. Ask Sean O'Hair how that behavior by his "coach" worked out

So the guy chewed his team out? Epic fail by one of his players to record and post it on the internet. Vince Lombardi wouldn't have lasted a week as the coach of the Green Bay Packers if this is what things have come to.

Well the F word is the most used word on the golf course.

I'd hate to have been the one guy that played well standing there.

He was completely justified in his reaction.  The fact that this got recorded just proves the team was absolutely terrible.  Now they are 12th place out of 12 teams and have YouTube fame.  Good job!

^^  'Twas actually 11 out of 12.

I heard this type of stuff from hockey coaches all the time (even in peewees). But for a golf team I just don't see the point...I don't hit the course, get all riled up and head butt my playing partners before I smack a drive 300 (if needed).

This all just just seems counterproductive. He should have put on soothing music and told the guys to find some inner peace before he makes them do putting drills for the next week straight.
