I'm a habitual twilight golfer.  I like the empty course after work for cheap, what can I say?  But DST has hit, and I can't even hardly get to the range before dark. :(  What's a guy to do?  Do I have to transition to an early bird and try to go in before work these days or go to one of the facilities that only has mats?  DST makes me a sad panda. :(

I feel your pain. Now with the time change, I am unable to practice or play at all during the work week. Hopefully we have as good a winter as last year, so I can play on the weekends.  I did find out, however, that the ceiling in my apartment is just tall enough to let me swing a full lob wedge.  :D

We should get rid of normal time and stick to daylight savings time.

I go into work early and leave in time to get to course by 4, I get in about 15 holes at the best, In December or if it is cold will get more in as I am the only one on the course except for the odd coyote.

If anything, we should skip forward another hour in the winter. That or pass a consitutional amendment to require golf practice during work, complete with indoor driving range. Who needs a break room anyway?

This isn't a bad idea.  I kept trying to figure out how to go before work, but maybe the answer is I just go into work 2 hours earlier.   In by 7, out by 3:30.  Have to figure out if I can even wake up that early.

You can try to find 9 hole exec courses to play at lunch.  I'm lucky that there's two of them near my work.

i personally like playing first thing in the morning so i dont mind the DST.  during the work week, i play 18 and at work before 9, which is perfect.  the only down side is it gets pretty cold in the winter, although i live in socal so i probably shouldnt be whinning about the cold

I do things like I did today ... had 90 minutes free late morning into lunch time and the sun was out, so I snuck out and went to my club 2 miles from the office, hit some range balls and putted then went on back to work.  I just am not talented enough to play well on the weekends without at least one practice session during the week.

My golf club's in a different country, no choice of playing after work. Just mats down at the local range in the evening.

Not trying to be an a++, but I just semi-retired. Forget the retirement checks and Social Security. This is what I've been waiting for. Go around 1 or 2. Play 18 as fast slow as I want. Yesterday I played myself-two balls each hole. No one around. When DST comes back I'm going to have to make a real adjustment. Won't last though, once it gets really cold and the snow flies. Dark is just depressing.

I'm always amazed when I go to my club during the week during the daytime and there are lots of people there.  I think our club is about 50% retirees, semi-retirees, or sales guys.  I envy them.

I hate daylight savings time. I think I will run for president in 2016 my main campaign point will be to do away with DST. Surely I can get the votes from all golfers. WHO IS WITH ME!!!!!!!!

Twilight is now noon at my club. Teed off at just before noon today and was able to play 27. Playing with a group of guys tomorrow at noon and should have no problem with 18. I do know that after work golf is over and can maybe get 9 in if I'm able to leave early.

DST is what happens in the summer, so you won't get much support from golfers with your plan :)

So, turns out one of the local courses rolled it's twilight times earlier so I'll be able to get in cheap golf often if I just go into work earlier.

My entire routine changes.   Spending way more time at the range before work and/or around lunch.  Might try getting in some early nines during the week.

Daylight Saving Time is what you have in the summer.
In winter, you are on standard time.
Just look at what time the sun stands highest. You will realise that it is at noon in the winter and at 1 pm in the summer. Noon is defined as the time of day, when the sun is at its highest point, so that is the "real" time. In the winter.

I am considering changes shifts at work so that I can try an eek out time to play golf throughout the winter. This of course means that we will have 80 straight days of snow.

Yeah, dumb a++ that I am, I go moseying along the other day. Wander out about 3:00 and forgot. ( old age) Playing along it's starts getting dark before I finish and I'm walking by myself with no hold up. How long until spring? To answer another post- NO! I wouldn't vote for anyone who wants to do away with DST. LOL.
