Faldo was and has always been an arrogant prat of a man.Rory is also an arrogant prat of a boy this is well known in Europe. The "friendship"between Rory and Tiger seems just a wee tad manufactured don't you think? i.e it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if this friendship has more to do with Nike than the guys themselves but who knows?NONE of us posting here that's for sure

Still, I find it very odd that such a respectful and seemingly "gets it" lad such as Rory would laugh and mock a knighted 6 time major winner.

Maybe money is changing him....Maybe Tiger is changing him....Maybe this is the "real" Rory and we've  all been buffaloed...

I hope not....but if he turns "punk"...many will be disappointed.  As far as the cash grab.....well...whaddaya do???

Naaa...Rory still has a man crush on Tiger...still looks at him as a God figure...they have a relationship that goes beyond equipment.  Tiger has been VERY influential .   I wonder what Rory would have done with a 250m con with ZEVO (if Tiger was going there).   Can't blame the countryman (who has no identity) for takin the Nike spiff

Faldo is not an inside joke. He is THE JOKE at least where I live and among the people I know and play with. He does it to himself because his commentary is so clearly influenced by his own agenda.

Point is this: pro golfers are in general, *****s. In order to play this game at a high level, for a living, you really have to be a self-centered egomaniac. Whether that manifests itself on or off the course is where people seem to try and draw lines and say, "this guys has no respect," or "who does he think he is."

I don't think it's said aloud enough but IMO, golf's historic attachment to white privilege and that institution's outspoken RACE-ISM (which is shared by a many on GolfWRX and every other social media outlet) is a major issue in society and especially within the culture of golf. I think it needs to be talked about before the sport really looses out on it's future audience-- a more ethnically diverse youth.

His cheating incident was publicized on a more pointedly racial level in the golf media because it allowed the the royal and loyal to kick-a** against Tiger with less fear of pulling a Fuzzy Z. It's unfortunate that his situation over the last several years (along with our first black President and the rise of social media) has made racist sentiment a kind of resurgent reality. It makes me sick in fact. The only thing I know, I love watching Rory and Tiger play golf and I don't pretend to know anything about them or their TRUE character because of what the media wants to show me. If Tiger is somehow "changing" Rory, I think it's only in the best of ways: making Rory a more enlightened businessman and celebrity, a show of real sportsmanship in a game that hasn't shown enough of it, and a game that's more diverse, more accessible to new golfers.

After watching the clip. all I can say is a lot of posters see what they want to see
Tiger burst out laughing and Rory reacted to that, and then continued to say that it work for Faldo but it would not work for him Rory took advise off Faldo as a kid, He also was the touring pro for the Faldo designed Lough Erne up until 2 years ago and in case anyone thinks I am defending Faldo I think he is a plonker
Now Tiger laughed, The same Tiger who always played practice rounds on his own, always talked about himself in interviews only, After rounds he usualy gave not one liners more like 2 words to every question   Harrington said not more than 2 years ago That nobody knew Woods, he never socialised with anyone on tour, Faldo said he kept himself alof from everyone else, I would say Woods kept himself even more alof, Tiger it seems is trying to re invent himself

Good points, I think you also have to read into it that I doubt tiger sits down for any interview ( with anyone & by anyone) without knowing the exact questions** that are asked ahead of time- Its much easier to give canned answers and reherse how you"ll respond.
Contrary to what some people think he is NOT just one of the guys, most feel that they can take him or leave him.......excepton camera.

***which explains why he has not been on Fehrety or 60 minutes for that matter.

Brilliant. Your parting line is "NONE of us know", yet it's "well known in Europe" how much of a prat Rory is. I missed this memo. I wish I was so awesome to have the inside scoop, though.

Odd that Faldo would think being "aloof" would pave the way to success when one of his hero Ben Hogan was buddies with Jimmy Demeret during his tournament years.
