Bert LaMar, the founder of Iliac golf, tweeted out today that he played a round of golf with Lucas Glover yesterday and tweeted a photo.  It was interesting that in the photo Lucas was wearing a North Face jacket, R11s driver and Adidas 360's.  Looks as though he made the switch from Nike to TMAG.

Wouldn't surprise me if Nike dumped him, but they should dump everyone else too, maybe they will after these new pickups.

Also, it is indeed interesting what these guys wear/play when they're not getting paid for it.  Are staffers required to represent during private rounds?  serious question...I have no idea.

I'd say they are required to use it at all times while under contract because in the event they are photographed with something else it would make their contracted brand look bad.  And it especially goes for stuff like shoes and clothing as they get so much for free why wouldn't they have something clean they could throw on.

It's even more interesting that he went from Nike to North Face. Didn't realize they were getting in the golf game. While I prefer Patagonia, North Face makes a solid product. I'll be interested to see the golf lineup they have in store for next year.

You would think that Lucas would look to wear Illiac because he is friends with Bert. I guess he just doesn't have that North Face money.

Probably got dumped to make room for Rory and other players. I never really saw Glover as a good fit for Nike. Maybe it was the lumberjack beard that did it for me, or maybe it's his slow talking drawl that just doesn't scream "Nike athlete".

How do you know that Glover didn't show up at the course and his gear was stuck in air travel limbo but he didn't want to disappoint the fine purveyor of ludicrously priced golf accessories so he grabbed some rental clubs and borrowed a pair of shoes?

That's exactly what I was wondering. (legitimately )

The logical anwer is that it is contract and player dependent, but still...it would be fun to know what some of these players would play with, on the spur of the moment or pick up rounds...with no body looking.

Well, all the players I saw (not a lot but a few) outside tournaments were wearing sponsor stuff (Matteo was wearing Polo shirts as well) so I am supposing yeah, they wear it outside tournaments as well, but Glover can be of course different

maybe it's a jacket his mom bought him. My parents were always getting me some off brand.  Then they'd act hurt if I didn't wear it.  

There were always a couple of pairs of Lee jeans on floor in the back of my closet.

Beautiful shoes, but more for the stylist than those who favor the trend to performance golf shoes, like the new Nike and Adidas shoes, or shoes like Trues.

With most Nike staff guys, their entire closets are Nike as well.  Heck, even the girlfriends and wives I've seen following some of them at tournaments are all Swooshed out.  This photo just seemed really odd to me that nowhere was there one Nike logo.  I mean think of the number of hats these guys get in a year from their club company and he didn't have one laying around to throw on?  Just seems like a release/jump to another brand is coming.

I've had/have friends on tour and they don't always wear sponsor's gear when playing casual rounds and many times use other equipment.  I have one friend that only played a certain manufacture's clubs during tournaments so he could get paid.  Sometimes just in the first round when the equipment surveys were done.

BUT, it wouldn't be a big surprise to see Lucas' name off the Nike website on Jan 1.  Along with a few others.

North face is junk, more of the official inform of high school girls. North face used to be something years 2 decades ago, but after vanity fair bought them they when main stream street wear.  North face is looked again outdoor brand like nike is to golf. Patagonia is also headed in that direction as well.

Could also be a Bridgestone signee, a lot of their guys play TM drivers and Adidas shoes. I don't see Nike "dropping" him, how often does a company fire a player? I really have no idea if that happens.

I hear what your saying. I didn't want to bash North Face. It's interesting and disappointing that you say that about Patagonia. What makes you think that they are losing quality?
