I purchased a pair of the new crossflex shoes this past Friday at a local golf shop. I wore them for a tournament I played over the weekend, which included 2 rounds of golf. Conditions were average, not really wet, not super dry, just about normal for after some rain a couple days before. I noticed some dirt collecting where the shoes crease when you bend over to mark a ball or line up a putt. I figured no big deal, I will just clean them when I get home.

Now a little bit of background, I have owned pretty much nothing but Adidas golf shoes for nearly 3 years. I have numerous pairs for golf, recreational, flip flops, etc. I also have many polos, slacks, shorts to match. I keep my shoes pretty clean, I have issues about wearing dirty looking shoes. Just dont think its looks presentable, and plus since the cost so much, I take care of them.

Back to the issue at hand. I wore these 2 times. I just tried to clean them with foaming cleaner, a must have for mesh shoes. And after 30 minutes of scrubbing, I can not get the dirt marks out. I called Adidas, and told them the issue. I explained that I have owned numerous mesh style shoes from them and have never had this problem. He said it is to be expected, and I replied that while I do agree, it should be expected, I think they should last at least 3 onths before they start looking shabby. After a 20 minute run around with him on the phone, he finally agreed to let me take them to the retailer and look into a warranty claim. I have had powerbands and never had a problem cleaning them, and keeping them looking newish. He basically told me that I should deal with it and accept that they will get stained. So I asked him, does Sergio golf with nasty stained shoes? He said no, so I said, then why do I? I told him I play a lot of tournament golf, and when doing so, I like to look presentable. So I guess we will see what happens. But I cant believe that Adidas would market a shoe such as this and just accept the fact that they will stain within the first or second times wearing them. A waste of $100 if you ask me. He said it wasnt a sure thing if they would warranty them, but believe me, I will be pushing hard.

Keep in mind, these pics are after scrubbing, scrubbing and more scrubbing.

Everything went well they're doing the full exchange, Thank you Adidas!

Pics really dont show how noticeable the stains are. I will shoot some daytime pics when I can. If the sun ever comes back out. Between Sandy and this Noreaster, I havent seen the sun in over a week.

Aren't stains expected with mesh shoes in anything but perfect/dry conditions?  If the grass was remotley damp at all, you gotta go with leather/watherproof shoes...

I understand they will get dirty, that's really not my issue. Really, I just cant understand why they won't clean up. The dirt was only on them for 2 days. They are waterproof, figured that meant they could deal with dampness. I mean I have owned powerbands, and they cleaned just fine.

I have the White ones and they stained the same after two rounds of golf.  Not wet conditions, but the dust and dirt get into the fabric.  I'm disappointed, but I don't view it as a defect.  They are relatively inexpensive, light colored mesh and worn outdoors.  I have had a friend pop them in the washing machine with a few sprays of Oxyclean and they come back well.

I should have sprayed on some waterproof spray like a Scotchgard first as I hear that works well to combat stains before they start.  Perhaps adidas could have applied something like that on the shoes in the factory.

Don't let a little dirt ruin your fun.

Oh trust me, when I am out there I don't shy away from areas because I don't want to get my shoes dirty, but I do want to be able to clean them. I mean when you wear your golf pants and some dirt gets on them, you go home and clean them, right? You may be irritated If you wore some $100 pants 2 times and they had stains on them.

I agree not being able to get the stain out sucks, but what did you honestly expect from a mesh shoe? Dirt and dust trap in the fibers. The claim about Sergio I also dont understand? Adidas pays him to wear them so he gets new pairs every week. But I'm not trying to make it sound like I am against you on this because I'm not, but I work at a nationwide golf chain and sell shoes and apparel and thats one of the things everybody who buys crossflex's or the purmotion's ask is will they get dirty. I would just do like someone else said and scotchguard them or put them in the washing machine. But I also agree with someone who posted earlier, in tournament golf you typically walk close to 7000 yards plus in a round and a 2 day tournament thats about 12-14 miles in grass and damp conditions, they will get dirty quickly.

I somewhat agree with the OP.  I bought the white crossflexes and they were stained/drity beyond cleaning after one round.  I expected them to get dirty but I also expected them to clean up after each round.  Will I buy another pair of crossflexes?  Not in White.....or grey now.  Or even the black ones, but it's because they aren't as comfortable as I had wished.

I don't think we are in the same page, I completely understand that they will get dirty, BUT, they should be able to be cleaned. I am not complaining about mesh shoes, I have had many pairs of mesh style shoes, golf shoes and training shoes, I have never had a issue cleaning any of them. The foaming cleaner works fantastic for mesh shoes. Like I said earlier, I have had powerbands (the silver and the white ones) last me all season before they were too difficult to clean.

These manufactures have the ability to make these shoes with materials that resist staining and clean easily. So the fact that they are mesh, has nothing to do with being able to clean them.

I guess being a member of 2 different pro net tournament associations, and playing upwards of 20 tournaments a year isn't a lot? I guess winning $3000 last month alone isn't a lot? Not sure what makes it your favorite line?

I only wore mine 3 rounds and they look a lot worse than that, tossed them in a closet and thought "oh well, bad move on my part for buying such a POS shoe".

It is what is...

Well that sucks. I was actually thinking about trying these shoes next season when it starts getting warm again.

Guess I'll stick with my Nike Free, they can literally be wiped clean with a wet towel. They just get a little warm at times.

I completely understand your frustration with the shoes, and expectations (being a long time Adidas wearer and clean shoes guy myself).  Hopefully they will work with you on this and offer you a refund, or credit towards something else.

From my experience with these shoes, my friend has the white ones, with red soles, and his seem to be "ok" after a handful of rounds, without much taking care of.  Other than that, I don't have much experience with the crossflex.  Maybe it was the type of dirt / dust / sand at the particular course you played at that day?  Sounds weird.

My advice would be that if you do get a refund, or credit - stay away from these shoes because most likely it will happen again.

Also, my 2 cents when speaking with Adidas/TMAG, don't compare youreself to Sergio, lol.  It's excellent that you play tournament golf, but if they wanted to give you free stuff and pay you to wear their product like they do Sergio, they would.  If Sergio had your exact problem, he'd just say give me a new pair... done.  If Sergio wore his and DIDN'T have your problem with the shoes, and still said "give me a new pair", they would.  Catch my drift?  Also, just because some other posters replied with sarcastic / troll type responses, you don't have to attack back.  It just looks worse on you, the OP.

Good luck with everything though.  I hope you get it sorted out.

No attacks made, just wondering what their point was. I wasn't comparing myself to Sergio, the customer service rep was telling me to deal with the dirty shoes, and I was making a presentation association with Sergio. Point being, just because I am not a world class player, doesn't mean I have to look like a slob.

I probably own a dozen pair of Adidas shoes for various conditions.  I'm pretty meticulous with them.  If I even THINK there might be a chance of getting something in the mesh of mine, I won't wear them.  I'll wear leather of some sort.  I know it's frustrating.  I've gotten mine dirty too, and it took a spraying and washing with Oxy to get the stains out, but they popped right back.  Oxy just loosens the stain in the fabric so the washer can get them out.  I know it's frustrating, but they do come out.

Not the fact that you play professionally...the fact that you told some customer service person at ADI your credentials as if that holds some kind of weight. That and the Sergio comment come off a little snobby if you ask me.

If you don't shy away from the troubled areas when you play and you want to clean your shoes and keep them nice. Don't buy anything but leather! Mesh golf shoes are just glorified tennis shoes. Sorry to be blunt but they are not gonna cover this with the warranty, for your sake I hope I'm wrong.

I didn't tell the customer service rep that I played tournament golf to gain clout, I did it to say that I like to look presentable. And I explained the Sergio comment above.
