[Big Gunner]

I never wanted to make a big deal out of this, but I feel the responsibility is on my shoulders to warn other WRX'ers who frequently buy gear on the BST. LSamAdams08 was supposed to ship me a set of irons, and they havnt arrived after over a month since he said he shipped them. Theres no way that the clubs are stuck in Canadian customs for that long. He also hasn't responded to any PMs or emails. I have filed a claim with PayPal, but he's withdrawn the money, so it looks like I'm out of luck there too. I just figured I would let others know about him so you guys don't get scammed like I did.

Doesn't matter if he's withdrawn the funds, you'll get your money and he'll end up with a negative balance in his paypal account.

sorry to hear about the lack of shipment. would say that they were stuck in customs but see no reason that the seller could not get back to you. appreciate the heads up on the person.

Not taking up for the seller at all with this but items shipped to Canada are taking a long time recently.  If shipped Priority they are to Canada in about three days and just seem to sit there for some reason.  Every item I have shipped to Canada in the last 2 or so months has taken much longer than expected.

No reason for him not to communicate though.  Like others said, don't worry about the PP funds being withdrawn.  They'll get it back and you'll get yours.

Cause if he did then it's out of his control. THere isn't much more he can do.

I shipped a club to Canada once that took a month.  He needs to prove shipment.  If it's USPS priority, then you can track it to the border.  Regardless of how he shipped (maybe he used PP) there had to be a customs form filled out with a number, which he should have.  You can call Canadian Customs and they'll try to look it up.  If it's cleared customs, you should be able to track via the customs number on Canada Post.  When the club I sent was taking forever, I started calling everyone because I felt bad for the buyer.

Although looking at his thread, I'd tend to stay away from anyone who claims they just hit rock bottom.....  especially with no selling feedback and not many posts.  Maybe he is cutting and running.  Hopefully his paypal is linked up so they can take your money back.

If the product was shipped with USPS and the tracking number starts with L then all you get is a conformation that it was shipped by USPS. Nothing else.

If it starts with C you will get full tracking all the way to the boarder on the USPS web site. Once it says it has reached Canada Customs then you can track it on the Canada Post website using the same number.

So did he provide you a tracking number?

Interesting.   That wasn't my experience when I had won a dispute against a seller and he cleaned out his Paypal account.

You need to get the tracking info...IMO, the seller needs to do a much better job with communication, etc. but the month long deal with Canada is always a possibility...

I hope that sellers and buyers on either side of the border start to put some enquiries/ pressure through their respective congressmen/ Members of Parliament as it sounds like this is a fairly recent yet common phenomena especially when goods are destined for Canada. I started a thread enquiry on this yesterday and a number have chimed in on that thread also.

I never received a tracking number. He sent me an email saying he sent the clubs, and promising to send the tracking number as soon as he could. After that, I havnt heard anything. I havnt ha any communication since oct. 1st

I would never buy from anyone that says "I've hit rock bottom" or any desperate seller. Guaranteed they'll run with your money. Look at what BP did to his buyers..

selling should not be a problem unlssss your a seller with bad intentions. I have never had a problem with purchasing from the us. Show me a tracking number and your in the clear

Selling to or buying from Canada is not a problem.

Buying from a shady seller is a problem.

I don't know I have almost always had problems shipping out of the country.  The biggest key in my opinion from shipping to another country is communication.  On here it seems out of country buyers always want to jump on my items but don't want to pay for shipping.  Every time I get a message about shipping out of the country the conversation almost always stops when we get to shipping price.

I've been there....what I've found works (at least for Canada) is to add a flat $15 to the price.  Usually I've got 8-10 dollars built in for shipping, and shipping to Canada is usually 25-30 dollars.  I give up a few bucks, but have had a pretty high completion rate with Canadians.

When I shipped a club Priority to Canada straight from the PO they told me that they don't give out tracking numbers for standard Priority Mail International. Obviously I had a customs number but I am not sure if that would have worked for tracking. All together it took 8 days from Metro Detroit to Halifax, NS.


I have also heard that PayPal buyer protection doesn't cover international transactions. Has anyone else had an experience with this?

To the OP-I would suggest trying to get a customs number of some sort from the seller. Also,they may be able to look it up just by using your name and address since he had to completely fill out the customs form when he sent the irons. I would suggest calling USPS every day to try and get this worked out. They were really helpful when I went through a similar situation with an item being lost on an eBay transaction.


I really hope your irons turn up. Hopefully SamAdams is a man of integrity and not another JR.
