Here's one for you guys- I've currently got the RIPa80X in my 3 wood, and while it's great off the tee I'm wondering if a different shaft could bring the flight off the deck up to a more useful level. Most of the time I go 5 wood off the deck because the 3 wood comes out as too much of a line drive to be any help.

I'd rather look at tinkering with shaft than changing clubs, but if the consensus becomes "get a 4 wood", I'll just facepalm myself and put another wedge in the bag.

The RIP alpha is a lower launching shaft. You certainly could put a different shaft in there to get a higher launch off the deck, but you'll lose that ball flight you have off the tee. Which is more important? Find the happy medium I say.

Like the above post says..."find a happy medium" and that very well could be a rip beta. I have the 80x on my rbz and its a touch higher than the previous rip alpha was so it gets up off the ground higher but you can still maintain a good piercing flight off the tee if you want that.

If you like the alpha give a beta a spin, it feels better than the alpha too.

That's a thought, thanks.

That's a myth.  He had a three wood shafted with x100
