I don't really want to hear from people who have tried it and liked/disliked it. That's really no way to come to a conclusion on the matter. What I would like to see, is some blind testing of golfers of varying ability, and their actual numbers in terms of distance and shot dispersion.

If there was anything like that ever done by someone other than SST, there seems be no published record of it.  Here's an interesting article about the subject, that Leith Anderson did a while back.  He's a proponent of the SST process.   http://www.calgolfte...w/driver80.html

Ok peeps. I started this thread about five or six weeks ago. I have played twenty to twenty five times since. I can say without a doubt that SST is a good thing. Naysayers have suggested and would have had me build an exact set with exact shafts and not SST pured, then compare results... But, I don't care. I'm not interested in doing an article with empirical data. I'm not a robot, I'm a golfer. I have the experience of playing with equipment that wasn't SST pured and the equipment was very similar to this [SST PUREd] equipment. The number of errant iron shots has reduced by HUGE margins. Consequently, the number of really good shots has gone up dramatically. And (this is where I will piss people off) for a player of my caliber this means kick in birdies of a few feet or less, vs. having to make long putts for birdies. It means hitting greens vs being a few feet off, or missing badly. I haven't done any analysis on my PAR3 performance before and after, but I know that it's off the charts now, comparatively speaking.

Not long after writing the first post here I tore my driver (cleveland 290 with miyazaki kusala indigo 61x) apart and had the shaft SST PUREd. Uh hem, I'm a fairway hitting machine. I know it's cliche, but the difference is really night and day. My playing partners would tell you what I'm talking about... It's all true. I have only three clubs in my bag that aren't SST PUREd (Titleist 910 3wood/5wood, and my putter) but that is going to change. I've got my eye on the cleveland lancher fl 3 wood with a miyazaki kusala black 83x and I'll be SST PURing it. And I'm going to replace my 5wood with my 18 hybrid, but I will be replacing the shaft there too - PUREd.

Don't hate the player, hate your equipment. Anyone live in atlanta and want to play and talk about this during the round? I'm really excited about golf (again).
