I played today and was 1 over gross for the first 7 holes. I then started to loose concentration and not play too well.

Now, walking down the 8th i started getting hungry and had a granola bar. From then onwards i seemed to go off the boil. This seems to always happen to me. As soon as i eat or get hungry i loose focus.

So my question

Should i start eating going down the first? Not eat a tall? Bearing in mind i had porridge and toast before i went out and was full.

Odd i know but it really seems to be screwing me over

Bring a bag of bites/nuts or something you can constantly eat, see if that makes a difference. These things can start out as just a coincidence but once that gets inside your head..........

Half a power bar (or whatever you like) on the 4th and 14th tee. Even If you're not hungry on the 4th tee.

Yeah true. It just seems to be an occurring thing. I'm a 6"2' rake so not eating isnt an option. I'll die without eating every 2 hours :)

Powerbar might be a bit heavy to digest?

Mixed nuts are a good idea :)

Powerbars are designed to be rapidly digested. The recommendation on the wrapper says to eat them 45 minutes before strenuous activity, which golf is not.

Considering a lot of people have a hot dog and a beer or whatever your flavor is and play fine I wouldn't worry about digesting a Powerbar.

Well that is true. To worry about nutrition in that detail is probably quite anal. I know people that have a few pints before the go out ;) then again they aren't trying to achieve what i am :)

I don't like taking the time to eat at the turn, I prefer to have some sort of breakfast and "fuel up" before the start of the round. BUT, sometimes I'll grab a dog and a beer at the turn if I didn't have time for breakfast. The club I grew up playing at had a turn shack similar to Caddy Shack, burgers/dogs, etc, and picnic tables to eat at. If the group behind you didn't want to stop and eat, they just played through, It worked fine. Everyone just cooperated to the extent necessary to keep things moving. That type of cooperation seems to be a thing of the past.

I would suggest it has nothing to do at all with eating.  More to do with an awareness of your score.  Continue eating frequently throughout your round and think less of your score.

Eat Two hours before a round. Snack during around. Energy and nutrients from food stock is not an instant fix. It takes time to convert raw nutrient in to useful energy. Don't let your eating be about filling the tank once it is empty but rather maintaining a constant energy and nutrient level.
