It's unbelievable how much mis-information there is about the markings on Callaway X-Prototypes... the dots never had anything to do with bounce on these iron sets, rjklein4470 (in post#24) has it correct.

I'm not trying to start an argument with anyone about this, so please don't take my comment in any negative way.

Yeah it is confusing to say the least, but I will go with what Easyyy said in the attached link as I would consider him as a pretty knowledgable guy...You actually commented in the link so maybe it will refresh your memory unless I am totally not reading what he said correctly.

very easy to hit, main thing to consider is bounce angle. the first version will have a significantly sharper leading edge than your AP2s. the subsequent "quad dot" version will have a more comparable bounce. this makes a
huge difference believe it or not, i found this out recently.
I agree, I games prototype and dis not care for them and I think because of that leading edge I struggled to hit them consistently.......... I hit the razr x mb and it was fine...... Very nice iron.......... Currently hittin mp68 which is prolly the best iron I have hit to date

Ok fair point. I can't call callaway with the serial as there isn't one so I'm looking around for other sources of info.

Yeah, I remember that thread :)

My take is that toward the beginning of it, easyyy was pretty assertive to other members about what meant what (dots, colours, etc.) when they disagreed. Then got more info from Callaway and (kinda) contradicted himself... never really acknowledging he was wrong. At the time, I decided to not argue with the owner/founder of this site (despite my differing opinion) and ultimately chose to stop posting in that conversation. FWIW, my information about these irons comes from 2 sources, the director of fitting and education (can't remember the exact wording of his job description) here at Callaway Canada, and from a friends wife who's worked at Callaway headquarters in Carlsbad CA for many, many years, and asked a product manager on my behalf.

I'll take personal dialogue from two corroborating (in the know) sources, over something I read on an internet forum 100% of the time.
