----rumor heard....apparently his Northern Irish homey and Cleveland Golf Srixon staffer Graeme McDowell has some influence here, the deep pockets of Sumitomo rubber may up the $250 mill  !

Might be a great fit , especially with a new Z Star on the horizon for 2013 that apparently outperforms everything else

interesting to see what happens.....blade irons and wedges would be an easy convert to the 588 line, and some freedom in the wood area might be what hes looking for...if he doesnt put the new adjustable Classic Driver into play

The one benefit I see from this is that Rory can keep his apparel deal with Oakley.  With Nike, he'll have to wear their threads.  If they can match or come close to the Nike money, but then say "wear what you want", then that would be hard to turn down. The McDowell connection is definitely a factor.

I heard Lynx is going after him.  With their new Boom boom driver they want him to go by Rory "Boom Boom" McIlroy.  The biggest catch is he has to wear one of those retro visors.

Who wouldn't throw a big number at him?  Maybe everyone is throwing out big offers just to be able to say they tried, or maybe they're hoping to drive up the price Nike will pay just to stick it to them.  Nike just has that big old revenue sharing carrot to dangle out there for the apparel.  Screw the clubs, they make all their money off the clothes and accessories.

No feelings either way but for this to be written off just because its Cleveland/SRI/Dunlop is absurd.

Plus, and this seems like a pretty good selling point, hes already going to be compared (already is) to Tiger. If hes trying to be his own person, why in heck would you follow him to Nike? (assuming he can make about the same money)

Again 250 million can change peoples opinion but not until its official will I believe it.

Then there is the whole what's Tigers opinion? Understand he's not what he once was, but he IS Tiger Woods. Last thing Nike would want to do is upset Tiger and then he leaves and not get McIlroy.

I don't care about the company itself.  I was laughing at his comment.  I truly don't care where he goes.  I still think it's comical that people swore up and down he'd never leave Titelist and were so emotionally invested in it.  For God's sake, it's golf people!

just out of curiosity - do you really think that his oakley contract and or clothing is that great to where he would want to keep it running?  i enjoy their eyewear.  the clothes aren't bad, but it seems to be interchangeable with 70% of the other clothing on the market.  why would he even consider carrying his clothing contract forward?

honestly this isn't too hard to believe. i mean if this was 2005 and they were desperately pushing boo weekly and an aging vijay as their faces, then yeah, laugh all you want. but now with a solid stable of major winners and the deep deep pockets behind them, i can see Cleveland/Srixon making a strong push. who knows, he could end up throwing everyone a curveball and go wilson staff...it's anyone's guess until the official press release is well, released.

It's official....Rory is going to Hammer golf.  Apparently Jack Hamm took Rory out for a round of golf and Rory was amazed at how far Jack hit the ball.  Rory said that he wanted to work with the legend himself.

Well I really wasn't attempting to be witty, I was making a criticism of your incessant need to prove how much you know. To the point that you take what i said that was an obvious joke and act like i was purposefully spreading misinformation. You have confidence issues I think. There must be some reason that at every turn, there you are, correcting every posted utterance in as nuanced a way as necessary, without ever really saying anything past "Can't really say more"  as though you and Finchy share an office. Ok, think about it this way: nike deal is equipment and apparel and exclusive for rumored 250. If he signs with any other equipment manufacturer, he can keep his oakley apparel contract, so he gets paid for equipment and apparel and he can keep a separate hat deal, sleeve logo etc. So essentially all you need is all of those separate deals to add up to the nike deal.
