I'd appreciate any insight on this- I'm planning to buy a 35" GoLo and shortening from the butt end to 33.5". My question is, would this result in the same end result as shortening a 34" GoLo to 33.5" (in terms of shaft diameter at the butt/grip end). I just don't want to end up having the shaft diameter smaller than if I had started with a 34".

Thanks in advance

It will be the same as far as shaft diameter is concerned.  The head weights might be a bit different though.

Weights wii be different, 35 inch putter comes with 10 gram weights and 34 inch putters have 15 grams weights.  You can bulk the shaft up with tape, but doubt you notice with way after the grip is installed.
