If this is the new staffer they were talking about this is a great move for them. Ryo hasn't emerged like some thought in the U.S. but he's still super young and talented and an absolute rockstar in Japan/all of Asia. Coup for Callaway of this turns out to be the case!

..i can't understand why the big difference between their US and japan models---aside from the prices..
it seems the US version are like their rejects!!
or they probably realize they can't sell them in the US at the price points they need to be profitable..

someone also told me once many years ago that golf in japan is like a religion...and i presume they treat their superstars as such..
that's also probably why i cannot recall any male japanese superstar golfer who really went full-time outside of japan..
they also get homesick a lot...

A little different to ishikawa's situation but probably a bit like Harrigton. Even if he won 3 majors we don't see a huge number of people buying Wilson equipment.

Asian Market wants the best equipment and will pay big $$$ for it.
American Market wants the best equipment but will NOT pay for it.

Pretty much spot on here. I think one of the Callaway guys posted this before, stating the reason they don't release the Legacy line in the US is because there isn't much of a market for a $2,000 set of irons. People are already questioning why their new X Forged are $999. The process to make the Legacy irons increases and simply stated, well, look at the guy I quoted

if i was in the callaway boardroom this last year and was targeting players to put on staff - i'm probably realizing that rory may cost too much money for the return... ryo however has global impact. NO BRAINER in my mind. we think small picture sometimes - however, the asian golf market is HUGE.
best off season signing...!

It hinted at the new player coming to play the pga tour more, lots thought it might be Colsearts(sp?) but now maybe its Ryo?
