So, checked the mail and saw something that looked suspiciously like a sleeve of golf balls sitting there. I couldn't remember signing up for any free sleeve trials, etc, lately, so I was pretty curious to see what it was. The Acushnet return address on the package got me mightily excited that it might be something new and not yet released...

Interested to get out on the course and test them out. They don't look and feel that different from a current ProV1x, although the dimples are a bit shallower and appear to have more pronounced edges. Just hoping the 40 degree temperatures and wild winds don't color my evaluation of them too much.

I'm not trying to be a jerk, but like 300 people on here got them almost a month ago...  Some got Pro V1x's like you, some got regular Pro V1's like me...

There's a couple of threads about it.  BUT, that's awesome that you got a sleeve.  Don't let me ruin that for you.

Church, no worries...I have no special standing or anything, so I'm sure lots of others have gotten them. However, it brightened my day a bit, so I thought I'd share.

Ha. That would be quite the unannounced delivery. Somehow, I think those were a little more difficult to get a hold of for testing purposes.

It's a ball. It won't look different. The 2013 balls are WAY different performance wise than the 2011. Greater playing characteristic separation between the balls.  New v1x will launch considerably lower than 2011

Got my sleeve on Saturday. Have yet to get the chance to hit them. Why did you block out your name on the letter though? They address you by your first name.

You need to register on their web site to be a member of team titleist, and keep your equipment profile current.

I got my test balls on saturday and played 9 holes with one yesterday.  They seemed to have a flatter trajectory, and were more durable.  My wedges werent tearing them up as much...at all really.  Beyond that it is tough to tell in CT,  obviously conditions were windy and wet yesterday.

Brilliant marketing by Titleist . . . send a bunch of balls out to its "advisory panel," and have them provide feedback. They couldn't care less what you return as feedback; just making sure you will buy the new version going forward.

Yeah. Seriously a nice ball. Found one and played it at Pasatiempo. Very soft yet incredibly durable. LONG and straight too. Very smooth feel off the irons and was freakish off the driver too. Damn. Like they combined the best attributes of the Pro V1 and V1X into this "test" ball to do battle with the HEX Black Tour and TP Penta 5. It was that good.

:superman2: :superman2: OK, I  played them both. I was on the 'lucky" list. I've played every ProV1 since the 1st, which was revolutionary. The new ball has a slightly harder cover. I
t flies the same, goes no further and I'd challenge anyone, in a peer reviewed, blind test, to show a performance difference. I know "new" is viewed as better, but this is the same. Still great, but just a 2 year model change to promote sales. Laudable for commerce, but not different... :busted_cop: :busted_cop:

Sorry but I've had multiple tour players on trackman testing the ball, as they don't have to switch and can play the older balls, and the 2013 prov1x over all flight was significantly lower than 2011 prov1x.  I have both 2013 balls as well as the prototype ball made as a replacement for the 2007 v1x (basically 07 ball with new cover). Also how the balls curve are very different over the years.  Trust me the balls play quite different, especially the v1x.   One of my players had a 14 yard difference between the balls (older vs new).  Now you could have gained the distance back by refitting the driver but with same driver there was a huge difference.

Thats pretty cool. I remember reading a thread about the nike balls that they give to their tour players only compared to the retail nikes, i can't remember the names of the balls but the tour exclusive ball went like 15 yards father on his drives, back up with pictures of the drives and everything.

Got mine a couple of weeks ago and already tested them and sent the results to Titleist. Longer off of the driver, same distance on the irons, more spin around the green and very soft off the putter compared to my Taylormade TP balls.
