From Golf Channel's website (quotes of the week):

"I have no goals here because I don't get in anything. Everyone turned me down on the West Coast."

– John Daly, on abandoning his quest for a PGA Tour card to instead focus on locking down a European Tour card.

Q-school?  Web.com Tour?  No no no....free handouts....and a hissy fit when he doesn't get them.

This is where y'all can pipe and say he's the American dream or whatever cause he got knocked down and he keeps getting back up.

He's played web.com events last couple years.  Why wouldn't you go play where you have the best odds of making money and furthering career.  European tour is far superior in money and ranking points.  I think there is a lot wrong with Daly but think you're trying to make a big deal out of a logical choice to play overseas

I'd say that sums him up quite well. However I'm still a fan of him. Fun guy to watch and doesn't give a damn what anybody thinks about him. After watching his special on fehrety, I think it showed there is a lot more to him then just a guy with loud clothe and a temper. Seems like a genuinely good guy, the fact that he lets people play extemely cheap golf and kids play free at an excellent golf course that he actually loses a 100 grand a year to just to run, shows a lot about his character. Then at the end when he let David paint his wall. And of course the part where he hit the ball off the tee in David's mouth. Really made a big fan of him out of me.

How about "Renting up space in all your heads".
I think that sums it up pretty well too.

How about  "We all hate him but we just can't stop taking about him"
Fairly accurate as well, no?

Daly knows he's his own worst enemy.  The entitlement phase is long gone, but he's still competitive.  If he can keep his demons in check, he still has the skills to win.

I didn't take his comments as a hissy fit, just a statement of fact. John is going to be fully exempt on the ET next season as he is currently c. 80th spot on the Race to Dubai order of merit, so no free handout there - he has that spot due to his play this year.

I look forward to seeing him more over here, he is still fun to watch and plays good golf.

Agreed.  But it would be nice if he would concentrate on getting his card back.  Like going to Q school and/or playing full time on the Web.com tour.

And he might get more sponsor's exemptions if he didn't sue them.

Why would he play Web.com tour if he has a European Tour card?

John will always be a remarkably complex, yet simple individual.  He has always been his own worst enemy and as such, struggles to get out of his own way...

John Daly is a lost soul who drifts through life, and one day he will pass on.  There are many people like this, he just happens to be on display.  He is more typical than some want to admit.  I hope he finds peace in Europe, and stays away from Amsterdam.

John is probably a lot like many other tour pros, he just talks about it more and is too open for the good of his own PR.  I would say gregarious explains him best.  He's a natural talent that isn't inclined to practise very hard, it's doesn't surprise me his game and career are touch and go.

surprising that everyone on the west coast turned him down. That is actually surprising. You always figure a few will give him a pass because he is such a draw. It's not like the midsize tournaments are killing it right now, you throw Daly in there, maybe a chimp that can swing a club and the novelty female golfer du jour, and hey you've got yourself a tournament

+1 - With all the negative talk directed at him in the states and in the media, why not take your game overseas where you have earned your card.  He played well this last season, enough to earn his European card and if he had more starts he would've earned his PGA Tour card.  Not too shabby, he's going in the right direction.  I'll enjoy watching him on the early morning broadcasts on the Golf Channel.

Seems he gave a factual answer to a question that was asked of him.  Don't see how that's a "hissy fit.".

i don't know what you are saying? Early season tournaments have used draws in the past to help their tournament attract viewers. John Daly would qualify. The Sony used to bring in Michele Wie every year. And im pretty sure a chimp almost won the masters one year, though that may have a been a dream.

I see no problem with Daly's decision to play on the european tour !!
Actually, there  are americans playing on many tours worldwide !!
JD is actually trending to global golf !!  Its good for the game !!
Wonder if he  can play abroad and still qualify for the Majors ??
I know he can play " The Open " .But the others ???

At some point, I would expect those walk-aways in other tournaments, after coming in on exemptions, would come into bear on new exemption requests.  Maybe this is that point.

JD would have the chance of getting his card if he played in these tourneys, no?  PGA wielding their power and vetoing that chance?

If I am not mistaken...He can still play in the PGA Championship as a former Champion, unless there is something I am missing...

he prefers Europe anyway.  he can hit every pub in town and look normal, where as people in the states call him a drunk that fell off the wagon again.  Quite honestly, JD is just making a buck until the champions tour.  That's where he wants to be, with the good ol boys smoking and drinking and his length will cream their courses.

Since so many of the top Euros now live and play in the US, Daly could be a big draw for Euro events. I would go watch him.
