Don't u wish pga had a tournment where the pros that were playing now had restrictions on what equipment they can use?

Like u had to use equipment that were released in the 70s ,80s,90s etc

I would of loved to see luke the best iron player using mizzy from the 80s or rory using drivers in the 90s.  Hell see if bubba can even paly with equipments back than because he work the ball so much.  I wish there.was a tournament where we can see the best paly with the best equipment out during the 80s etc and see who's really good.

You would need to start by coming ups with some balata balls, otherwise what would be the point?  Secondly saying equipment from the 90's is not specific enough, persimmon should be mandatory.  Limit the loft to 56* on wedges, V-grooves only, steel shafts only, and of course pure blades only.  And for putters, no belly putters, not 2 balls, must be blade putters as well.

I would love watching it, a 6900 course would be relevant again.

Just a guess, but I suspect feel players like Bubba would do OK. The mechanical players maybe not so much.

I agree. Make them use a wound ball with wooden heads. No offset with the irons, regular old sand wedge, and heel shafted putters no longer than 36 inches. Hell, I'd like to play like that since I still believe that nothing felt better than a pure strike with a wound ball. But I would allow the claw grip and other tortured methods in deference to my own yips.

Why would you want to do that?  Sand wedges lofts of the time when PW were 52° were 58°.

I think one of the last ones in Vegas was won by Brad Hughes a very good ex tour player from Australia. He and John Erickson dueled it out and both were either right around par or a few under if I remember correctly. The top 20 percent of players were around 3 or 4 over each day I think.

Living in the Memphis Area I might try the St Louis tournament in June. If that work's I'd love to try the Austin or San Antonio tourney since I have family there also.

When I want to watch my favourite players using blades and hitting persimmon woods I watch vintage Masters Sundays on youtube. Just watched the 1990 version and there was our all time favourite caddie letting his player take too much club off the 72nd tee.
