Hey Bruce, are the Z-Grip Patiot grips coming out the same as the 2012 version? Looking at the pictures it doesnt look like theres a cord in the new one? Maybe just the pictures though..

Hi Muelsman...the Z-Grip Patriots are all-rubber. No cord.

Bruce, thanks for answering all these questions, very nice of you!  With the love that is still out there for the Victory/Victory Cords, do you think we'll ever see a rerelease or a special edition?

DRRicks....good question. There is definitely a small, but vocal following of the Victory grip. As you know, we still make it for TOUR usage only, but suppose it is never out of the realm of possibility to re-release into the Aftermarket as a one-time deal. Never say never.

just a shout out to Bruce and GP. since going to MC grips i only feel confident when i play the same grip... even when i try clubs im thinking to my self 'man i wish this had a GP MC on it'.   I will be going on my 8th set of GP MC Reds at some point during the winter.  so i dont really have a question, only a request... dont stop makin' 'em!  lol  Thanks!

Mr. Miller,
Like many on this topic, I've been playing GP for decades.  My favorite grip ever was the V-50 Cord.  I bought 2 dozen or so before they were gone but they eventually got used up.  For the last few years I've played the NDMC, but I'm going to try out the Z-Cord and the Tour Velvet BCT.

GP has so many great grip choices.  The only request I have is to bring back a version of the V-50 Cord, but not with yellow accents like the V-55.

Hi DRRicks....we wanted to refresh the Patriot grip with a current design and felt the Z-Grip aligned perfectly. Actually, we have had alot of requests for the Z-Grip in non-cord. So this will fill that void. Firm, responsive, stiff material is surely the point of the Z-Grip Cord. But the rubber version won't be as firm for the main reason it contains no cord. Cord makes the grip stiff.

I liked the Victory Cord shape and texture better than the Tour Wrap Cord, which was the only other GP grip at the time that featured cord (as I recall).  The only thing I didn't like about the V-55 was the color, which otherwise was the same grip as the V-50, correct?  I grew up playing Victory grips, so there is a bit of nostalgia, too.  I suppose the Tour Velvet Cord is similar but I just like the look of the Victory Cord.

I was just reading my latest copy of "Golf Magazine" and they mentioned Rory, who is a stickler about his equipment, plays "ribbed" yellow and black multicompounds. Any chance us mere mortals can obtain these? I'd literally pay double if I could get a multicompound whiteout with "reminder".

Just my opinion, but I think GP is missing the boat on a great idea. Why not offer an option for customization like Nikeid, Scotty Cameron, or Callaway does with their Razr fit driver. How cool would that be to design your own grip colors?

I hit the joeclothing jackpot then... my Anser with Blue Bullet was built in tour and I asked for a Whiteout Black.  When I got it, it was a 58 Ribbed Whiteout... so they're out there.  I love ribbed grips on woods but not on irons and wedges...weird, I know.

Keep you eyes out on eBay, they pop up on occasion.

It's a tossup between the Niion White's and the Patriot Z-Grip's for me(currently play the Z-grips) Love Golf Pride products, most likely wont ever play another grip company, well unless anyone want's to donate a set of Iomic's

what happened to half cords grips?  Like the Golf Pride Swing Rite 50th anniversary half cord, i am sure there is a market for the half cords, its great all round grip, for different weather conditions, multi compound are good but still nothing like the half cords.  Thanks

Hi 2Draw....to answer your question, "What happened to the traditional half-cords?".....it was the explosion of popularity of the New Decade MultiCompound. The success of that grip undoubtedly moved alot of traditional half-cord users to the new top-half cord style of the MultiCompound. The success of the MCC helped contribute to the retirement of your traditional "underside" half-cord models. Of course this doesn't mean you'll never see that style of grip again. But right now the majority of half-cord users have become accustomed to this new style. You can still find some old-school half-cords online or in retailers. I stumble across some every now and then. Hey Bruce, I just wanted to say I'm a huge fan of the Players Wrap. The half wrap is a brilliant idea and I had no idea how much a grip could improve touch and feel with the putter. I didn't mind the white, but it's nice to know there will be another option with the black when I regrip.

Great thread. Bruce, your responses are honest and candid and much appreciated. A couple questions/thoughts. I recently dug 1990s Wilson Staff 1 iron out of the basement and it had a GP Tour Wrap Full Cord and it is the best feeling grip I have ever held. Something about the wrap is just perfect along with the nice firm cord. Is that one still floating around?
For a while I was playing the NDMC but found them to be a tad "fat" even standard with normal one wrap of tape. My hands are short and fat so just a smidge undersized really feels good. That Tour Wrap is perfect. The NDMC has never felt right. Is it possible they are actually bigger, or just an illusion? To be honest, I've switched to Lamkin (sorry to name the competition in your thread), specifically the Crossline Cord. I like that combo of texture and thick cord. Is there a specific GP grip you would suggest?

Make the Z Grips with more cord, not less. Also I could see there being a need for a mid size. I love my Z 's but I just figured out that they are even better with +1. Now I need to re-grip all my clubs with +1.

Great job on the Z's. I switched to Lamkin Full Cords ever since you guys changed the BCT's. now I'm back to GP and the Z's.

First of all, thanks Bruce for being active in these threads.  I've played GolfPride all my life and have been mostly happy as such.  I'm a bit of a traditionalist though, and like some other cord-enthusiasts herein, favour a coarser/rougher cording (although, I do still have about 10 of the Tour Velvet Cord BCT's left to use-up at home), and have been long-preoccupied with finding a more bristled model.  I was only made aware of the new Z-GRIP CORD product offering about two months ago, and was quite excited by the more aggressive cording that was promised.

My concern with the new Z-Cord's is entirely about aesthetics, however.  While Ball.Go.Far. questioned about a possible color-scheme reversal, my query is specific to the white-coloured butt-end.  I'm not crazy about more expressive colour schemes (Multi-Compounds, for instance), but I don't mind them either.  What I am concerned about is how much quicker the butt-ends - being white instead of black - get dirtier (or, at least appear to) from being at the bottom of the golf bag?  Admittedly, if they do murk-up quicker, it'd be a good incentive for me to clean my grips more often, but still, the concern remains.

Ball.Go.Far., what's your experience?  Did they get dirty/look it any faster than normal do you think?

Has anyone else have any experience with the butt-ends on these discoloring / looking worn, or being a pain to clean?

Bruce, have you had any consumer feed-back on these (or, similarly-colored models) staining / dirtying any more noticeably than usual?

I currently use Tour Velvet Cord and NDMC but want more grip. I've been thinking about trying the Z-Grip but am a put off by the white butt caps.

Apart from the dirt issue, I think they just look a bit ... I also recall seeing other posters on this site saying they don't like the white cap on the Z-Grip.
