I was lucky to receive a pair of 2013 True Sensei shoes about 3 weeks ago and I thought I would share a quick review of them. First off I am a big True Linkswear fan, but i will say that it took me a few rounds to get used to the different feel of my first pair, so you might feel the same regardless of the model. Once that happened though, there is no other shoe I would wear on the course (slight exception would be the Nike Bandon, for extreme conditions).

I feel like these shoes are the perfect fit between the Tour/Stealths and the PHX models. The PHX has always felt a bit stiff to me and the others a bit loose in terms of stability. I would say that the sole feels like it has a more level contact with the ground where tours/stealths feel like the can rock more side to side.

From the top down they don't have the tradition True clown shoe feeling because of the varied color tones. I also like the fact that they have a tongue and don't have the traditional True sock liner.

I've used them for a couple of range sessions and 9 holes and so far I give them a 9/10. My only complaint is the way the shoe bends at the toes, but they are shoes....and that is what they do.

I'm excited to try these, they look great!  I have the tours, which I love but they do look like clown shoes.  I ordered the PHX and they come tomorrow.

Thanks for the review, those look great!  Question - how does the toe box compare with the other Trues?  As roomy?

Yes they feel just a good as the Tour/Stealths in the to box.

they look great but the dealbreaker for me is they are not waterproof.   I will probably wait around for the true proto.

Those really don't do it for me in the looks department. They look like a wal-mart running shoe.

It must be that I'm OLD or just more traditional in my dress. Those just look terrible (IMO)...

I can't wait till they incorporate a less "clown" like toe box in future styles. I love the shoes, just wish they had a bit more narrow look from the top.

I just received a pair and they fit me inline with the PHX. I wear an 8.5 in the Sensei and PHX and a 9 in the Tours & Stealths.

The toe box is a bit thinner and the lines of the shoes make it stand out less than the prior models. Here's a pic that shoes the difference (left to right: 2012 Stealth, 2011 Tour, 2012 PHX, new Sensei)...

For those that want a narrow toe box, you're probably not gonna see it from True. They can't create separation between your toes to allow for a "free feel" and have a narrow toe box. If you want narrow look then your toes have less room to move and will be cramped.  This isn't exactly rocket science...

Received my pair yesterday.  Tried them around the house last night while deciding whether to keep them (a harder decision than expected) and took them out for a couple mile walk this morning.

Pluses:  They are comfortable right out of the box, feel nice and stable.

Minuses:  I think they look nice off the foot than they do on - to be honest they look a lot more like clown shoes than my 2012 Tours do.  I'm not super crazy about the look.  I also found that I don't like the mesh upper all that much.  Just personal preference, but I think I'm going to like the Tours better.

On balance they're keepers and we'll see if I like them better once hot weather returns.

Tried these on a Golfsmith this week. While my initial opinion stands that they are terribly ugly shoes, they are also extremely comfortable and lightweight. Really, surprisingly so even though I have Tours and really thought those were comfortable. But they are just so dang ugly. Truly, truly ugly.

These are by far my favorite True's. Super comfortable, lightweight, a great all around shoe. I don't find them ugly at all, but to each their own. I've had them for  3 weeks, and have worn them exclusively. Especially like them for off the course, so much so I plan on getting a separate pair just for golf.

Adding a bit to my comments now that I have about 20 miles on mine:

1.  The look is growing on me a bit.  Appearance is 99% subjective, of course, but I've been paying a bit more attention to what's out there in athletic shoes and these blend in better than I thought.  I guess I just like sold colors better.

2.  The most interesting thing I've learned is that my feet are appparently different sizes ... different widths!  The left shoe is exceptionally comfortable, fit is pretty much perfect.  It's so light it's almost unnoticeable.  Fantastic.  The right shoe, however, lets me feel a ridge along the inside of the foot.  After poking around with it, my best guess is it's just where the upper joins the sole.  It's not like it's painful, but it is omnipresent and a bit distracting.  Obviously that shoe isn't as comfortable.  The shoes appear to be identical on casual inspection, so it pretty much has to be a difference between my feet.

I'm afraid this also doesn't bode well for lifespan.  I have wide (EEE) feet and put stress on the edges of most shoes.  My 2012 Tours have held up beautifully (and don't have any ridge issue), on these I suspect I'll blow them out at some point.  Hopefully I'm wrong.

3.  Otherwise, construction is top notch.  I have not found any manufacturing issues or appearance flaws.  Lots of room in the toe box.

4.  Traction is also good.  I've mostly worn them on hard surfaces, but they've been rock solid when I've gone onto the grass.  It was damp this morning when I went out for a walk - we had a dusting of snow overnight - and no hint of any slippage.  I would say that these are confidence inspiring - I'm definitely happy to choose the Senseis over tennis shoes in any conditions where traction could be an issue.  OK, I'm not wearing them when it's slushy and sloppy, but I wouldn't be wearing tennis shoes then either if I could avoid doing so.

I like the Senseis and would recommend them.  I'd like to return my feet for exchange, but I don't think True can accomodate that.

Conveniently forgot my golf shoes at home when I went out of state for the thanksgiving, had to buy a pair the night before a round of golf.  Went to a GS and were torn between these and the PHX, managed to find out my wife bought be Tours for christmas, so I went with the Sensei for some variety.  I agree, it does lack style, not my favorite design out in the open, but with a pair of pants covering the top, the shoe silhouette and what you can see from under the pants looks fine by me.

My biggest complaints are them not being waterproof and the fact that they will inevitably get dirty (and no amount of Tide to go will keep them clean forever).

That being said, they are comfortable( have almost a minimalist feel).  They are light on the foot and walking around the course,and stable when taking a swing.

Wore mine for the first time yesterday and got hot spots on the inside/bottom of both heels...  Possibly the edge of the insole?
it was surprising/disappointing as all (5) of my TRUE Tours were great right out of the box and I got these as "everyday" shoes.

I'm hoping these just need to be broken in or have the insoles removed...  Anyone else have this issue???

Senseis would be a dry day shoe...plenty of others for wet days

styling ? to each his own, but I like them ...probably because they have removed the pain!
