TaylorMade announced Rocketbladez irons earlier today, promising a giant leap forward in iron technology. We've hit them here, and they definitely deliver in both distance and consistency. I had scratch player testing them on the launch monitor (stock set that you've seen in the pics) and he averaged 139mph ballspeed with the 6 iron. Hefty distance into the 230s, and very consistent. You could almost here Dustin Johnson saying "That's ridiculous" in the background.

Think the lack of the 'speed pocket' in the sole from the 8 iron through wedge will lead to distance gaps? We didn't see it. 199 average carry. Yeah, not bad.

Of course, as good as they are, this is GolfWRX. So what's said by many members have after a product is announced? "I can't wait to see the Tour version." Well, wait no more.

Here are some product images and photos captured this morning at The Kingdom. Rocketbladez Tour irons: 4, 6, and PW. Also, there are some product images and charts which really tell the story about this iron.

This iron seems to have all better players are looking for including a thinner sole and top line, straighter leading edge and minimal offset. Then you'll notice the sweetspot. It's much larger than traditional players irons. Maybe some of you caught TaylorMade's Sean Toulon with Brian Katrek on PGA Tour Radio this morning. I'm paraphrasing, but if you take that sweetspot that's the size of a dime and make it the size of a quarter, even the better player will notice.

All this, and of course inverted cone technology and 'speed pocket' are carried through to the better player's design as well. More understated graphics round out the package.

KBS Tour is the stock shaft offering. We'll add info as we get it. Enjoy the pics and let us know your thoughts below.

Any word on the feel of them?  They are not forged.  That might be the only thing keeping me away from them at this point.

Yep filled.  Special polyurethane developed by 3M.

LM data was not at the Kingdom.  A quick litmus test between Rocketbladez (non-Tour), R11, and Rocketballz irons.

Unscientific and just for kicks, but the Rocketbladez were the winners.  Longer than R11 and Rocketballz.

Very sweet looking. Going to try and see if they will kick the MC's out of the bag. Distance is good only if it is consistent.

Just noticed the chrome hosel but the satin toe area on the face. Why?

Not a big fan of shiny chrome, but I'm sure these will do great with the TM fanboys. It remains to be seen if those outside that circle will buy into the hype. Based on their history, are we 6 months away from seeing these marked down to $699 or lower? To me TM is still a driver company that also sells irons. I'll be watching with interest to see how this launch goes.

From what the Tour players are saying, it feels almost identical to forged.

Actually, since I was born in 1961...and I remember the hideous clubs TItliest had in the 1970's, both are true 'for me'.

I haven't made up my mind yet on these. I must see them in person and hit em. They are very intriguing. I notice some weird loft gaps between some of the irons. The gap between PW and 9 iron is five degrees. 9 and 8 is four degrees then it is 4.25 between 8 and 7. Not a big deal but seems strange to me.
