I've heard that Luke Donald's contract with Mizuno is up at the end of the year and that it won't be renewed for 2013.

Has anyone else heard the same or does anyone know different?

I could see him signing with TM as he already had a pay for play contract with them to play the RBZ as his drivers and fw's

Just switching from mizzy irons to any TM iron would be a major difference in my opinion.

Part of a marketing strategy at Mizuno where if they kick all their name players off the staff (thereby creating a super-elitist vibe) regular consumers will flock to the brand in a plot of reverse psychology.

I'd put my money of TM if Mizuno really couldn't renew the contract. He loves their woods already.

So from co-designing the 64's and being the poster boy for Mizuno to letting him walk..............really? Lol

Man that would be a huge loss for Mizuno. Only people of note they'd have left on the tour are CHIII and J. Byrd.

I would love to see Luke sign with TM. There are plenty of TM staffers NOT playing TM irons. Luke also plays an old version of the Pro V1. I did notice that Sergio and Luke played a Penta in an alternate shot match during the Ryder Cup. Whatever version that Sergio plays.

Really doubt he is leaving Mizuno though.

He's played Mizuno since, essentially, birth. This would be an extremely odd move, especially as it doesn't coincide with him being #1 in the world.  He sells irons, and that's what Mizuno does best. Would be an odd fit for most other OEMs given the focus on distance with the driver.

Luke should command a better price than just irons at his current level. He should cash in on a full deal, maybe Titleist if Rory leaves.

Mizuno cannot match TM's full package deal.  They simply can't.  And Luke might be leaving the top 10 soon so he better strike a deal while he still can.

He'll go for TM for the new +17 yard slot irons.  He needs distance more.

Or not, clearly they do not have a strategy of paying tour players.

My gut says no way in hell.

Someone start a poll asking who will leave their current sponsor first, Rory or Luke.

Still won't make him play to his potential and hype.  Needs to change what is between the ears.

I don't see how it would make sense for Mizuno to just let him walk. I also agree with Vindog on this one...its definitely the Bigfoot like proof that the OP used that's keepin my eyes glued to this thread

Yes, he will become the first ever player  ranked zero in the world. A feat never before been achieved.

Id be surprised to see him leave Mizuno considering he has been with them since his college golf days.  Money talks though and the reality is that Mizuno is a small company who cant afford to pay him what TM and Nike could.
He is already on the TM payroll for playing their woods and Im sure TM would like nothing more than to sign him to a full bag deal.  If he does leave, Mizuno will be just fine.  People play Mizunos because of the product, not because the top tour pros use them.

I know TM is signing a top 5 player....
And it is a direct correlation of the new iron..
And thats all I know....
