Got my Geek No Brainer with the Grey and Black "Mustang" paint job today. Hand picked by Steve Almo himself at 1* open and 9.5* of loft. I wanted to share some comparison pics for you guys against my current stable before I get it shafted up.

First we have my current gamer, R11S 9*. As you can see in the pics there is a lot more face surface especially near the bottom of the club on the Geek. This is exactly what I was hoping for. The low heel miss with the R11S is brutal because there is basically nothing there. The Geek also clearly has a taller face as well which I also prefer. As you can see from the crown pic the Geek is also much more compact and pleasing to the eye at address.





Now my back up driver is a Tour Issue R9 Superdeep 10.5*. I had a retail 9.5* that I sold and regret that everyday. As you can see from the pic of the face they are fairly similar. When I push the toe down to be even with the Geek you really can't tell which face is taller although close up in this picture it does appear that the Superdeep is slightly taller with the No Brainer having a slightly larger foot print. From Address you can see these are both very classic compact head shapes that are very pleasing to the eye.





My club maker is off on Sundays and Mondays so I couldn't get the No Brainer shafted up today. I have a Fubuki Alpha 70X that I'm going to put in at 45". Once I can get a few range sessions in with the Geek and can find the center of the face consistently, I will head to my teacher's studio and we'll put together a trackman session and post some numbers. I'm "Geeked" to hit this club, it looks awesome!!!

Yeah, when I spoke with Steve on the phone I told him the Camaro also came in black with white stripes ;-)

However, the orange one with a Tour AD DI or an Orange Bi-Matrix might not look too shabby

Update:

We are all shafted up. Spined Fubuki Alpha 70 X-Stiff. Cut to 45" with a Golf Pride Tour Wrap Grip +3 Wraps of tape. Swing Weight came out to D7. Once the Giants game is over I'll go to the range and report back on ball flight characteristics.

LBlack is correct, they are actually grooved in the head. The grooves are filled with black paint and the rest of the head is Grey.

This thing was low launch and low spin even with the Fubuki Alpha. I hit about 10 balls with it at the range and hit another 10 with my R11S/Motore Speeder 7.1 combo. Dispersion was much better with the Geek/Fubuki combo. Very consistent 5 yard fade and the harder I swung the straighter it went. My R11S is very unpredictable. Some go right, some go left. Either the head or shaft don't agree with my swing.

Overall launch angle was about 3 degree or so lower to my naked eye. Will have to confirm on the trackman in a couple weeks. Even when I gave it a bit extra it was still much lower flight than the R11S and overall about 20 yards longer. If I put the same shaft in the R11S I think it would be much closer, but the Geek head is definitely a spin killer and lower launching.

I called Steve Almo afterwards to thank him and let him know the results. Interestingly he pointed out to me that he designed this face to be more flexible and unlike passed designs he recommended hitting the ball dead center on the face to achieve the lowest spin and highest ball speeds. In the past I have always been told slightly above dead center would kill the spin and produce the best results. He recommended teeing the ball a touch lower to get the desired effect. Overall great stick. I'm very impressed and can't wait to get this thing on the course and on the trackman.

FYI No Brainer is going into the Women's LDA final as the #1 seed by 26 yards!!!

What does the No Brainer cost? I'm definitely interested in gaming one, but sadly am on a tighter budget.

I'd love to get one paired with an Arthur Xtreme, but GolfWorks doesn't sell their heads.

Nah....  my SS averages right at 100 and tops out at 105.  I've had success with both the DCT and the Failsafe 3.  The heads are very low spin and launch.  I had my best result with a 12* DCT and a accuflex creation shaft which gave it a bit more lift and gave me good results even on a miss.  I bought a 9* FS3 with a HOF shaft once and ended up selling it because it required my best swing to go anywhere.

The no brainer looks nice....  I'm sure I'll end up trying it down the road

Mad, The DCT is also a great head. It is 450cc compared to the 460cc of the No Brainer. The DCT has a shallower face height by a little more than 1/4". Both heads are extremely low launch and low spin. They don't need a ton of club head speed to wake them up like a lot of people report. You just need to play more loft than your normal driver. I see you play an 8.5* J33. You will probably want to bump up to 9.5 or 10* in a Geek head. The beauty is Steve will hand pick the head for you so even if it says 9* or 10.5* on the head you can get 9.5* or 10* and ask for open closed or neutral face angle. The No Brainer is also a much heavier head, so if you like a heavy swing weight go with the No Brainer, if you prefer lighter go with a DCT.

Give Steve Almo a call geekgolf.com. He won't be back from the World LDA Championships for a week, but he'll probably give you a price worth thinking about. The heads are going on EBay right now for $190.

This head looks nice actually. Like how it looks at address but the dimensions of the face are great too. Looks well proportioned and appealing to hit.

Yes, much more appealing to my eye than the DCT. There is a little bit more roll to the crown near the toe and the stripes surprisingly don't bother me. Overall, I think Steve made a nice improvement with this head.

They are there because Steve needed to take weight from the crown so he could put it elsewhere in the head. No aerodynamic purpose and they can help with alignment, but that is not their purpose either.

SPOILER ALERT! Women's champ Sandra Carlborg's winning drive was 339 yards, SS champ was 369. Today's longest drive in the Senior division was 455.

Has anyone been on a launch monitor with this driver? Looking at pairing one with a Graphite Design DI-7. Trying to get something lower spin than I have now. Comparisons between this and any OEMs?

I hit my buddy's No Brainer and DCT the other day.  Both 7.5* with BiMatrix shafts.  The other was pink.  I'm a fan of the heads for sure.  You really don't have to bring much to get them to go deep.  Nice sound.  Gave me a great mid flight.  Bunch of roll.  Really solid heads.
