Just curious to what everyone else thinks is the closest ball to a regular pro v1. Same softness, durability, distance and spin.
My guess would be bridgestone 330s or maybe the callaway hex black.

It may sound odd but I gotta say the maxfli u4 not the x version.  Just plays very similar to me it's a little softer but very close all over.

B330s seems to be closer to the ProV1x than the ProV. I haven't played the current TM line (including Maxfli), but maybe one of those options is close? Between Bridgy, Nike, Cally, Srixon, etc. that blend of feel/spin and controlled launch is hard to come by all around.

I play the MG Tour C4. At $20/dozen I just can't find any reason to spend any more than that for a urethane ball that performs as good as it does.

Have you tried the Penta TP3? It's fairly close to me, heavily discounted right now as well.

The compression and cover hardness for the Pro V1 and B330-S are virtually indistinguishable.

I thought the feel of the B330 felt close to a ProV1.

I went from the ProV1 to the Z-Star (for a brief period), and now play the TM TP3.  Great ball for a greater price.

Golf Digest did a nice test last year where they posted a graph of the spin and launch angle (I think) of various balls.  You could really see a difference in the premium balls and the lower-end balls.  I tossed all of my old issues away when we moved a couple months ago, but would be nice if someone else could dig that up.

I just looked up the pricing for the B330's and ProV1's and there's barely a $5 difference. If you are paying ~$50 per dozen, what's another $5 to play ProV1's?

Nailed it.  ProV's are only $2 more in my area.  I like the Bridgestone balls, but the ProV1x is my perfect ball.  I've flirted with the mid range balls, but I always give up something.  To get everything I want in a ball, I have to go ProV.

I'm not a titleist fanboy, and I wanted to like the Bridgestone 330's.  They just weren't there yet for me.  If they get all the way there, I'll switch in a minute because I think the double dimple is better.

The closest thing I've ever played to a Pro V1 is the Nike One Tour.

According to Callaway testing the Hex Chrome performs very much alike a Pro V1, I was invited to see the testing stats. But it was more similar to the Pro V1 2009 model, than the 2011 model. But overall performed very similar to both. For some reason I guess nobody in thís forum will believe me :D
