i've used so many different putters over the past years.

nike, taylormade (3 different ones), scotty cameron (2 different ones), yes!, odyssey (3 differerent ones).  this one round, i was putting so horribly on the front 9, i bought a new putter (taylormade rossa) at the turn... actually putted better on the back 9 with it!

anyway, i saw how luke donald, ian poulter and other tour players have been using that odyssey putter with the fangs along the back of the putter.  went to the golf store and demoed it and immediately felt the added stability and control this putter provided.

issue i have with putting is jacking it left.  i find that i have too much twisting of the putter on my backstroke and forward stroke.

the weighting and balance of this odyssey white ice #7 was incredible.  took it out on the course and had some amazing 1-putts.. putts i would normally miss.  it's not just the balance, but there are 2 parallel lines that run from across the top of the putter that makes it so easy to visualize a railroad track to the hole.  makes it easier to line up the putter and then putt exactly where you intended it to go.

anyone that is having issues with putting (like i have) you should try this putter.  amazing.

note: i also tried the odyssey metal x #7 which has the same shape but a little smaller in size.. felt the metal x was too light and i still suffered some twisting.. unlike the white ice #7.

I just picked one of these up today. I'm liking it rolling it on my indoor putting green, but I need to see how it does in the real world. I do like the shape of it though.

An awesome putter. Kind of ugly, but man does it roll a nice putt. Been using mine for almost a year now. I had some trouble with it after the honeymoon period was over and went back to my Ping Zing 2 for a short stint, but the #7 soon found its way back into the bag. It's a well balanced mallet with enough alignment aid to be useful but not overly clunky and distracting. I was stoked to see Poulter using the #7 so effectively at the Ryder Cup.

I have had mine for about a year. What I have found with this putter is that it seems very stable, and doesn't want to open/close very easily. Is pretty good for those with a slight arc or sbst type paths. The roll comes off pretty hot, though, so I guess if you have issues with speed it would be good to help address leaving putts short. Also would be good for those who like a shorter stroke through the putt. Definitely gets the ball rolling quick. Insert is a little mushy, though. I like a firmer feel, but this design gets the ball in the hole.

Yes, great putter...too bad the insert really sucks.  Just too soft vs typically milled putter.  I feel I have to 'crush' longer putts.

I keep it around when I lose putting confidence.

I would have to agree here that is one of the best putter out there....maybe Holy Grail status. If I ever give up on my murdered Spider Belly Conversion I will be back using the #7. Just such a stable putter that allows a smooth back and through stroke. Yea, has great lines too. I have made many great putts with the White Ice #7!

I've used the White Hot XG #7 for a few years, and just picked up a Metal-X #7.  I've got the white ice insert in my backstryke dart, I think, and I while I like it better than the XG, I think the metal-x insert in my new-to-me #7 is my new favorite of the odyssey inserts.

Managed to get in nine holes today after work so was able to try this putter. The insert is going to take a little getting used to, but this is the easiest to line up putter I have used to date. Hopefully I can get out a few more times to try it some more before the season ends.

I have a White Ice #7 IX Japanese version with a 355g head and it`s a great putter.Has a crescent moon like alignment aid which is different, but I like it.IX insert is not too soft, just right. Also have the metal X version but it`s nowhere near as good.

I got a White Ice #7 this past spring, I had putted with Scotty Cameron Del Mar for the past several years.  I am not one to change putters much but was not putting well with the Del Mar.  Like you, I love the alignment lines on this putter.  I have made a ton of putts with this putter.  The only thing I do not like about it is the insert.  I am not a big fan of inserts but as time has gone on I have gotten more used to it.  Great putter.

I have two #7H Tour putters.  They are so balanced and easy to align.

I have been looking at the #7, older version and newer but I think this thread has me convinced! The time I have used it at the local store did feel really well balanced so might as well give it a shot.

I'm loving the White Ice #7 (34", 360g) so far.  Very balanced, pendulum feel to the stroke.  Very tight end-over-end roll.  Can literally hit it anywhere on the face with little ill effects.  Reminds me of the performance of the original Spider, but in a sleeker, less cumbersome, easier to look down at design.  Insert is a perfect balance between too soft and too firm.  Have yet to use it on a sunny day, curious to see if the finish is too reflective under sunny conditions, seems like it might be.  Also have yet to test it on short, breaking ("touch") putts.  Usually struggle some on touch putts with a mallet, prefer a 8802-style for these types of putts where speed is so critical.

Still deciding between the #7 and my Black Series TD #2 for the top spot in the bag.

I can testify the outstanding performance of this putter. As a horribly-high handicaper, I'm notorious at 3-4 puttings per hole. But not anymore with this WI #7, which gives me better alignment view and more balance on the back swing in the pendulum motion. I can now make 80%-90% of 8-foot putts on my indoor putting green. And my first 9-hole outing with this putter, I 1-putt for five holes and 2-putt for the other four. I can never believe that I would have a 3-putt free for 9-holes like this. The result came out a lot better than I expected; I'm totally in love with this putter now.  I custom ordered it to 32" long, 1* flat, 360 grams weight with Odyssey Black Series grip.
Never did I know that a $104 putter would total change my putting result.....a lot more effective than my expensive Bettinardi milled putter, which I dumped it to the corner now.

I used the White Ice #7 as a slump buster for a month or so last spring as a desperation move to revive my putting.  Really helped me to get my confidence back around the greens.  I was so well-balanced and seemed to swing itself.  I rolled the Metal X at the store the other day and did not like that quite as much.

The one complaint I had with the putter, and it may be silly, but everytime I soled the putter during my pre shot routine, it wouldn't sit square, but rather sit open-faced a little bit.  This really played tricks with my mind.  Stupid I know, but still...

Thanks for that stat breweagle, I knew the White Ice head was bigger, but not sure how much more it weighed than the XG #7.  The XG #7 is about 330 or 335.

I think I prefer the smaller head of the WH XG #7 and the bare stainless finish.  Whatever the case, the higher moment of inertia concept works well for most.

Picked up the White Ice #7 a couple of weeks ago and really like it.   Love the stability and roll off the face.   Played Pinehills Jones with it last week and putted well despite the aerated greens (or maybe I putted well BECAUSE of the aerated greens?)   This putter is very easy to line up and stroke thru.  Only one complaint...can't pick up the ball with the back of the putter on the rare occasion that a putt is conceded to me.   I think the Metal X #7 has a smaller crescent shape that allows you to scoop up the gimmes.   Both are great putters.

I have moved on to a white Ice lined 2-Ball Blade at 370 grams, but the White Ice #7 is super stable. You can actually hit it anywhere on the face. Crazy high  MOI.  I moved to the 2-Ball because it was just much easier to align, but I did give up stablility.

I play the WI #7 right now and I couldn't be happier. Like Gmachine said, the Metal-X version is smaller and, IMO, a little cramped. Plus, I like the softer insert quite a bit more than the aluminum zester. It's funny--both the #7 and TM Ghost Manta both struck me as eyesores when I first saw them, but they roll putts better than any other styles I have tried.

I have a XG #7 with a White ice insert and heavy weight. It's a Tour Issue just like Luke Donald's, it belonged to a guy from Callaway.
