I'm 105-108 with ball speed in the 150ish range and my fitter said I was on the cusp of Stiff and X, and could have gone either way. Glad you're liking the shaft head combo!

A lot of factor can play in the choice of the flex. if ur transition is smooth or not, etc... Its all personnal too! but the TS is a really good shaft!

I don't typically post here.....usually just read and learn.  I just picked up a 10.5 Anser with the ahina in stiff and played today with it for the first time.  I can't say that I was in spots on the course that I have never seen......my current gamer is an I20 with stiff TFC and distance was similar......but what I can say is that I have never hit a more forgiving driver.   It wanted nothing but the center of the fairway.  Launch was a bit lower than my I20 and the sound was a little "different",  but not a turn off or anything.

So the anser is an i20 but more forgiving? Same distance?

For me.....yes....I honestly thought (and still think) the I20 is pretty darn forgiving.  But this Anser was simply amazing in the forgiveness department.  Once I get another round or two out of the way, I'll report back.  I will say that the I20, when hit solidly, feels softer off the face.  The Anser, while not harsh, was more firm feeling.

Undoubtedly the Anser is more forgiving than the i20. Not that the i20 is unforgiving, it's simply that balls off the center seem to still carry the intended distance. I have owned both as well as a G20, and I would say the Anser is very close to the G20 in forgiveness.

I would venture to say that i20's are having a hard time selling right now with the heavy discounts on G20's and the extreme performance available in the Anser's.

I know a bunch of guys were disappointed that The X-flex ahina's have been on back order as of late. If anyone is in the market, my local Golfsmith had a 8.5 with X in stock. PM me if you want details.

Played yesterday with my normal group and one of the guys had snagged a used Anser 12* with a soft regular. He's killing this thing.......I'm in disbelief that he can hit this soft a shaft and keep it on the course.

I'm the youngster in this group at 59 but these guys were all good players in their day and still shoot in the mid 70s........after watching my buddy hit this Anser so well for 14 holes I can't stand it any longer and have to try it. I'm playing a G20 10.5 with a Tour stiff that I like, but feel like I hit too high......and get little to no roll.  My transition is quick and regular shafts usually bring really ugly results.........but I have to try this Anser. Now this shaft almost feels like a rubber band when you waggle the club......but I try to smooth it............and just kill it.

Hit this thing 4 times and just smoked it.............hate the shaft, love the club.............I gotta have one.

I finally picked up an Anser. I got that 9.5 head with a stock Blur stiff shaft.  I did hit some bombs with it, but the face feels really hard unless I hit it right in the middle of the face.  Maybe it was the Qstar balls I was using since it is winter.  Also think the launch is a little low and wishing I would have found a 10.5 head.

This might go on the market and I might wait for the G25.

Could I trouble you for your swing characteristics? Swing speed, high/low ball hitter?

I'm interested in the same setup as what you bought. But I'm getting lots of mixed signals. The Ping web fitting recommends the 9.5 in Blur XS, Golfsmith (with their juiced launch monitor) recommends 8.5 in Ahina or TFC Stiff (I can't imagine getting an 8.5). My swing speed is around 100-103, with a lazy/early release.

I just got recently fitted from a 910d3 x stiff to a Anser. Swing speed was 102-103. I normally hit the ball very high. Smooth swing/semi jumpy. I ended up with Anser 8.5 Degree w Ahina 70 gram stiff. By far longest driver for me. I picked up a solid 15-20 yards. Lower ball flight then normal which I loved but still got the ideal launch and spin numbers. Hope that helps you

went to phx to get some repair done and did a fitting for the driver, as my 10.5 ahina s, was waiting home; it looked pretty well on the monitor 15° launch 2300 rpms in spin avg. tried all the shafts and this was best for me.

got my first range sasion and it performed really well, noticble better than my i15; didnt see that much side spin, and it was high and long, got a couple at the 280 marker plus the roll. when i had a bad swing it went bad, but miss hits landed in the 225-250 range. not that bad.

set up is nice, looks square even tho i have it at - setting, and the sound is so diferent to the i15, didnt liked at first, but you get used to. still can pull it a bit but not a hook.

still have to try it in the course, will see.

I am anywhere from 98-103 swing speed. I tend to hit the ball low, but have high spin numbers.

I'm curious to see what you experience as a fellow i15 player.  Right now, I don't know if anything will kick my i15 out.  i15 is beast!!

Had my second range session with the anser and im getting better results as my i15.
big first change is loft, i had 9.5° on my i15 to 10.5° on tha anser. to me, the i15 is a beast and is longer than the anser but its also more slice - hook driver, i get more side spin with the i15, with the anser goes up and barely any side spin at all. of course a bad swing is a bad swing, but you can hide your misses more with the anser.
comparing the ahina to tha axiv red, one is low launch and the other is mid launch. at the end i get a bit higher with the anser, but that is due to the loft (anser is set to - so 10 of loft)

conclusion dont know yet until i hit the course, but i belive that ill be more in the fairway (altho a little shorter) with the anser than the i15. ill post my results after my first round with the anser.

Sorry for the bump in advance.

Has anyone received a custom order recently? I know the 'ahina was backordered, but it's been 6+ weeks since I place my order and this is flat out irritating.  GS and PING have had my $400+ for a long time, and all I have is, well, nothing.

Goose,
I made a post a few weeks back on this. I have two golfsmiths near me and both have X-flex Ahina's. One has an 8.5 the other a 9.5. If you want I'll give you their phone numbers. Might be easier than waiting on this.

I've had my Anser for about a month 2 months now and I've waited on the honeymoon period to end before posting......... then I realized it isn't ending!

I was playing a 910 D3 before which I really liked. I wasn't even in the market at the time. I was waiting on the 913. But one of the guys at PGA Superstore insisted so I figured what the heck. I tried several heads and shafts with several configurations. I was really impressed with the club in the simulator. I don't completely trust them, but theirs seems to be fairly accurate with regards to spin and launch angle and that's all I care to know anyway. The numbers were excellent. Spin rate was silly low and launch was perfect. But more importantly was how easy it was to hit. Much more forgiving than my Titleist.

Anyway, I was impressed enough that I bought it on the spot. I figured if I didn't like it, I'd return it and wait on the 913. I bought Anser 9.5* with Ahina Stiff. My SS is around 102-105 and I play off a 3 index. Never been a Long hitter, but never really been short. Just pretty average considering I play with mostly scratch players who all hit it 300. Launching it around 13 * with 2200 rpms. Pretty much perfect.

Well, after 2 months I can say without a doubt it's the best driver I've ever owned. It launches perfect, I can work it enough, it doesn't spin, and I hit it solid every time. I should post a picture of the face. I've never cleaned it and there's not a single mark outside the 2" X 2" area in the center of the face. I hit the driver pretty solid traditionally, but it's ridiculous. Originally I changed it to 9* because I live in Dallas and I figured the more penetrating the better which is how I've generally gotten better control and distance here. Well, after some experimenting I now have it set to 10*. I'm hitting these high, straight bombs with this thing and it just goes forever. I have always been skeptical of people making big distance gain claims. But I can honestly say I've picked up an average of 15 yards. My average drives are as long as my former really good drives. And when I catch this thing I hit it 25 yards further than my Titleist. Into a 15mph wind yesterday hit it 275. Non-wind assisted I'm hitting really good ones 290.

I can probably attribute some of that to simply having the confidence to swing at it. But I don't really care what it is. I know one thing for sure. This driver has changed my game and is changing how I can attack golf courses. I'm going for par 5s that I normally just couldn't reach. We play the tips on a 7200 yard golf course and before I had to really golf my ball to compete with my buddies. Now I'm right out there with them and the golf course has become much more playable. All because of this driver.

Do yourself a favor and try it if you're in the market. But be mindful of launch angle. If you're currently playing a 9.5, consider a 10.5. Because if you're fitted right you will certainly be lowering your spin rate considerable. Glad I bought the 9.5 because I normally play 8.5.

nice post and welcome to the club! I agree, this driver is so low spin I think guys will benefit by going up in loft. Much like you, I am getting considerable gains over my old 910 D3. PING has a winner with this head.

PING G20 8.5 Di6-X
PING G25 15* 7.3TS
Adams VTS LSP 20* 8.8TS
Titleist 712U 23*
Bridgestone J40CB
Fourteen RM12 51* 55* 59* S400

I suppose I could cancel, but my specs are in, it's paid for, and I'm getting the head digitally lofted.  I don't really see the point in cancelling.

PING has been building stuff crazy fast lately... what did you order?

Nothing special, just an Anser with 'ahina X, in my preferred length and swingweight with digital lofting.

UPDATE: I called PING today and just by coincidence my driver just got delivered.  It still took 5 weeks to ship, but hopefully everything there is all good.

Billy Bob Golf is starting to ship the Anser tips.  They aren't on the site yet though.  They contacted me yesterday since I inquired about the the adapters previously.  My adapter shipped this morning.

Maybe I missed it in an earlier post, but what did Billy Bob's charge you?
