I bought some items from globalgolf and then received an email that says I'm eligible for a free 1-year subscription to Golf Digest OR a 6-month subscriptions to Golf World.

Any suggestions or pros/cons on one vs the other?

I'm prejudiced.  I prefer Golf World.  Less fluff in my opinion.  More articles about golf.  Limited or no instructional articles and travel.  But more about golf itself.  It suits my interests much better.  Definitely less advertising.

They're all pretty cheap.

Golf Digest (like Golf Magazine) is nice, but it's monthly, and alot of adds.  There's some occassional peeks at equipment and reviews, but mostly some instruction and occassional tour guy profiles.

Golf Week and Golf World are great - they're weekly (for the most part - it's like, 45 issues a year), and they're highly focused on what happened on tour last week.

So really it depends on what you want - a monthly catelogue with some instruction, or a weekly recap of what's happening on tour.

I go with Golf World.  I'm more into the news side of things that the instruction articles from Golf Digest.

Realize the OP has probably long ago made his decision, but I'll add my 2 cents for the benefit of someone else down the road with this question.  I've had both and have a slightly different take than has been presented above.  For me the big question is how much time you have to read.  I always seemed to get behind with Gold World since it was weekly.  Plus they have their Monday online editions, effectively making it a twice a week subscription.  It's great if you can manage, but I usually would get overwhelmed by it at times.

Full disclosure - starting shortly I'll be getting Golf World again to go with my current GD & Golf Magazine subscriptions.  I like GD & Golf more that Gold World, but Golf World comes free with my state association membership and I'm not about to turn it down.
