I think it's starting to happen.......how will my golf game be impacted?

I have been noticing lately especially when I wear my contacts that when I am reading I need to hold the book further and further away from my eyes to be able to read clearly. Do I need to consider anything specific from an equipment (I.E.glasses, contacts etc.) perspective in addition to what one would normally consider when getting fit for reading glasses/contacts..... in other words does the fact that I play golf impact what I should consider buying for my glasses or contacts?  I am wondering what different types of options exist. I'm sure I can consult with my eye doctor, but it never hurts to prime the pump for additional input. Thanks!

no, just buy some reading glasses, unless your far vision is changing, it only affects your ability to see things close up - scorecard, gps, yardage book, etc.

It will affect your ability to read greens....sorry.  Happens to most of us when we age.  You'll probably start to miss subtle nuances - like grain.  At least that's what I've noticed.

Thanks guys! It's a bummer but I guess it beats the worse alternative!

Yearh... I started to notice the same thing. My arms wasn't long enough anymore when trying to read letters when not in clear daylight.
Got my eyes checked and they found nothing wrong with them but they recommended I started to use glasses (+1) for reading.

Improved my reading and abillity to see small things like my daughters nails in darker light. It has not changed my sight when playing golf. Reading the green is the same. In twilight though it can be a little difficult to see small things

I can't see distances at all. I've been in contacts for about two years and still struggle. My doc put me in a prescription that he said was kind of in the middle correction wise. Helps on the distance but still allows me to be able to read normally.

Quite frankly I don't think it works well at all. I still can rarely see a golf ball at even 150 yards or so, and my reading vision is now not as good. I think I would rather go to a full distance correction and get readers (at least I could see my damn ball that way). Sucks getting older.

for contacts, I have my non-dominant eye under-corrected, and, that allows me to read normally. My dominant eye gets full correction.

I've "made" my own mono vision.  I put one contact in for everyday use and put the second one in for golf.  I haven't had problems reading greens yet, but I do have some issues trying to see my GPS.
