We always talk about "best this" or "best that". I played terribly today and am depressed.

88 in my club championship as a 1 index. 5 shots higher then my next worst round in the last 2 years

can anyone beat that? (and by beat that, i mean beat that the bad way).

For the record, didn't curse once, no broken clubs, no slammed clubs. MtlJeff made golfwrx soapboxers proud LOL

109 on a golf course that I can't seem to put up a good score.  The greens are hard and fast!! Pin positions are ridiculous.  Not only that lost 2 balls on a par 3 that you really shouldn't.  Putted 41 times!

I love the golf course but the greens ans the pin position is so hard.  I've been shooting 87 -93 this season.  All in all horrible day on the course

I guess I can look at this two ways.  My worst score as an adult is a 98, but that wouldn't be my "worst" round of golf.  There's a golf course out here that I cannot put up a good score at no matter what.  It's really short, 5700 or so, but every tee shot just looks awful to me.   So every time I play there, that is the worst round of golf of my life.    (kind of like how in Office Space, everyday Peter Gibbons wakes up is the worst day of his life) Unfortunately, I have to play the golf course every week because that's where my work league is.

Two day tournament 68-81?

81 isn't bad enough, even for you. Anyone, anyone can shoot an 81 with a few bad breaks and not making putts

Jeff, this is your lucky day. Went 91-83 off a 6 handicap. I am about to start a thread called "How to EPIC FAIL at golf and look good doing it." Feel free to contribute once it gets posted. lol

My worst round is when I broke my favorite driver shaft. Never found the same magic since.

My worst rounds are those that I actually shot SO SO but could have been better if I didn't give up mid round like last week.  I thought I was on my way to a 100+ round but ended up with a 91 and thats after I just started spraying it everywhere because I didn't care what happened.

When someone dies because of your tee shot, that is a bad round. :(
I took a one stroke penalty. Seemed the right thing to do. Still, pretty bad... :(

Went to Florida a few years back - relative entered me in a tournament at his club.  You just match cards at the end with a random person you're paired with and they tally up the scores.  I hadn't played all winter, went down and shot about 120.  It was absolutely awful.  I was embarassed to hand over my scorecard - I think it was really a 116 that I wrote down, but I just took an 8 or 9 instead of whatever I was getting on 18 because at the time I just wanted to get off the course.

Sometimes it's not 'what', but 'how'. A 44 for 9 holes is only a few strokes over what I average, but yesterday I shot a 44 while hitting 7 out of 9 greens (and one birdie mixed in there).

Shot a 51 after 74 -71 put me in contention in a City AM many years ago.  My then teenaged son was caddying, so I almost burst a blood vessel trying to maintain fake composure.  (I barely broke 90 and almost ran out of balls).  I made a 17 on a hole in a State Am.  ( Bad decision on an unplayable drop, left me "trapped".)  Did not break 90 that round.  The worst part is both rounds made the newspaper if you bothered to look far enough down the scores.

Entered the MA State Open as an AM. Shot 90 in quals at Hampden CC with a chip in birdie on 18.
Funny thing....all the guys hanging around wanted to know what the 3 on 18 gave me for a score as they were worried about if they made it or not.....made it even more embarrassing!

I steadily shoot mid to low 80's, and I entered a Am tournament and shot a 103. Talk about depressing. Never could catch a break even when I  put the ball in the fairway, Which I did quite a bit.

I had a round early this year when I literally could not hit an iron or wedge correctly to save my life. They weren't shanks per se just half odd strange no backswing weirdness... I scuttled my way around to a 93 that just felt 15 strokes higher. It is strange how the game can disappear randomly

55,000 miles

I play to a .9 index and im finally getting back to the same magic after having a major shoulder surgery. But before the surgery, I some how managed to shoot an 85 in a big tournament, I used a long putter and the shaft is still snapped and sitting in the corner of my room. :)

Travelled to Scotland.  Only had one great weather day, no wind, no rain.  Drove to Carnoustie, hit the ball well warming up.  Got on the course, parred #1, felt great.  Shot a 97, 22 over my hdcp.

First visit to a course ranked among the 50 most difficult in the country.  It was #46.  Stopped keeping score but probably shot 110 or 115.  Felt like throwing my clubs in the dumpster when I finished.

First round of club Championship: 68 and tied for the lead.
Second round: 81

While an 81 isn't bad in the scheme of things it's horrible when you are in the last group of the club championship.

Honestly I try and forget these type of rounds as quickly as I can, I have had plenty, I just don't remember them. Heard something funny while playing in a tourney yesterday. One of the guys in our group was playing purdy good but on 17, a par 3, made a 6 and was obviously upset. Another guy in our group who had a very dry sense of humor comes out with, guys that think golf is fun obviously don't understand the game. Everyone, including the fellow who made the triple had a good laugh.

I shot 102 this year, my worst round in about 20+ years. The round started great with a birdie but finished with a 6 on a par 3 and a 9 on a par four with a double hit from just off the green, it is all forgotten now.

Shot 84 in USGA Mid Am qualifying.  No birdies in my 3-some.  The pin locations were rediculous, plus it was only my 2nd time playing that course.

Edit...this is my worst score this year....was a rnge rat for 1.5 yrs before I ever set foot on a golf course.  Shot 53 first on a golf course, including an 8 on a par 3, didnt know how to get out of a bunker (first time being in sand).

I feel your pain...

Was in Scotland back in '99. Started on the west coast- 73 at Turnberry, 77 at Troon. Feeling pretty good about myself and was pumped to be heading to Carnoustie as the Open had just ended two Weeks prior...

After a first hole par, it got ugly. On 18 in regulation, stub the first putt, drain a twelve footer for... 103.

Damn, I was psyched to play well there- not even close...

I would have needed a calculater to figure out my first few scores but would guess they neared 150.

As for my present day golf game, ever since i learned to actually hit the ball and make it go forward....I followed up a 91, my best score to that date with a depressing 112.
