What is the current best combination of high launch and low spin out there for an x-flex player?

My favorite setup of all time was an Ozik x-con 6x in An FT-5. Currently playing a titliest D2 with the stock diamana white x. It is much more accurate, but doesn't load as smoothly for me or launch as high (obviously) and I seem to be leaving 20 or so yards on the table.

I'm thinking about going back to an X-con or trying a couple of the Harrison products like the striper h2 or saga. I fight with a quick transition, so a smoother butt section of the club seems to load better for me if that makes sense.

Thanks in advance for the help.

For high launch, low spin check out Graphite Design Tour AD DI.  Should be exactly what you're looking for, and there are plenty of reviews on this site.

I'd also say the Oban Kiyoshi would be worth a try.

SurfinTurf, I think you just did! I'm willing to have a little more spin to pick up some launch and adjust my driver down slightly...should be better to get it with the shaft as opposed to face angle.

Thanks to my Midwestern brothers for the advice - I'll look in to both.

Some low spin shafts launch slightly higher or lower than other low spin shafts. But none of them would launch high enough to be considered high launch when comparing to all shafts.

I guess I will say it too, there is no such thing in terms of shaft alone. I don't know why people keep feeding shaft suggestions unless they don't get it either?

The replacement for the xcon series is the X3 which is just moving from prototype to production. I've hit the proto which will become the production version - a 7X3 X flex tipped 1" for a WRX customer, and my advice would be to look there first. I was very impressed although the shaft was substantially too stout for me I got a good sense of how it loads

I think the Grafalloy Prototype BiMatrix is pretty high launch with low spin numbers. I have it paired with a Royal Collection Tour VS head and it's dropping bombs!!!

Good luck on your search!!!

The term High launch / Low spin is a bucket of worms, but if we modify it to "Higher launch - without to much spin" there is shafts out there who dont seems to add spin the same amount as they can provide launch, but to call them HIGH launch would be stretching the truth when we move into X flex

In the Low to Mid launch area (higher than Diamana White), there is a very good spin killer called PFC 60 X
I found it to spin less, but launch higher than than ProLaunch RED (and feel much better)
Its a PFC exclusive shaft, so its not found "every where" but see the locator and use your zip code

I've got one of those.... :D
As Howard says, the term "high launch/low spin" is much maligned in the shaft world for an accurate depiction of what is happening in the real world. In raw terms, it's nigh on impossible to increase launch without increasing spin at a similar rate. What we are ultimately looking for is a compromise between the two - i.e.. enhanced launch at reduced spin.
A few shafts on the market claim to do this and some of them are pretty good - some deliver the high launch that is desirable, some reduce spin. From my experience, it's probably best to fit your ballflight first (in terms of acceptable height) and worry about the spin later. Many shafts deliver good ballflight solutions and they also do it at varying spin rates.
Step forward the Grafaloy PFC - a remarkable shaft that is best described as mid to low launch (not a bad thing) but it has the ability to drop spin quite a bit. Again, it's not the mythical high/low combo, but it does it a bit better than most other other shafts without resorting to playing too stiff of flex or too low a ballflight. It really is a good compromise of what makes a launch  V spin combo.

Those that would otherwise fit into the DI series but
A: Can't launch it quite high enough
B: Don't get enough spin
C: Can't get the face shut with such a stiff tip

Aggressive swingers with an iffy timed release. In Ryo's case I would suspect it's because he wants the extra launch/spin for more carry

I'm going to try the AD DI - I'm looking for an updated xcon6 with more consistency. I know there are far lower spinning shafts - throttle, devotion, etc - my AOA is not positive enough to play them, though I would benefit from their spin characteristics. Thanks for all of the outstanding feedback. If the DI doesn't do the trick, I'll try a PFC as I like the performance, but not the feel, of the Prolaunch Red in several of my sticks.

I'll check back in with this group once I have it glued up and have taken it for a couple of spins (pun intended).

I think that you should go back to the X-con.  I like it a lot.  So do my friends.  Last Friday, when they weren't hitting their drivers so well and I was, they wanted to try hitting mine.  Now 2 of them want a Xcon shaft.

Unfortunately, there is no real answer because everyone swings a club differently. No sooner than someone says "this is the ultimate low launch low spin shaft", someone complains that they are ballooning it. Likewise, the ubiquitous high launch low spin shaft has a certain amount of poetic license to it's attributes. Try each of the 3 shafts on your list and soon enough you'll get each shaft ranked in a random order. If you can guarantee anything, it's that threads like these will continue to run....and run.....and run....
