Anyone have any experience with these two new clubs?

Is one that much better/more exclusive than the other?

As they both were developed around the same time, has one become more popular?

Liberty National has become part of The Barclays rotation. Haven't heard much about Bayonne...

The proximity to NYC makes both courses unique.

Any experiences?

I've played Bayonne twice (won a charity auction then hit it off w the member so he let's me play once a summer for the same donation). It's spectacular.

He tells me a "bunch" of members fled Liberty to join Bayonne. Liberty was a million to join so few did. No one could ever find a game and bringing 3 buddies every time you play was another few grand in guest fees. So they went over to Bayonne where dues are less than half Liberty's.

Place seemed cool. No one cared if you were on a Blackberry, caddies were great, and did I mention the homemade cookies in the clubhouse?  They have a private ferry that takes you from Wall St to the club. I mean, it's crazy stuff. (I drove) And no one said anything like "deliveries in the back" when they saw my wheels. A great place. Check out the website. Dan Hicks does a tour of the club in his best Sunday afternoon announcer voice.

Have played both. Very, very different tracks. While both are terrific, for a true golf experience, I would have to go with Bayonne. Really unusual to drive through a road filled with quarry rocks and construction equipment, go through a private gate and feel you drove to Ireland. I know it sound crazy since we are talking about NJ, but that's how it feels. A classic, old world club house and beautiful emerald green fairways cut into rolling hills of fescue. Beautiful views of the Hudson River, Statue of Liberty and New York skyline. Tough track with the wind that can be nasty.

Played Bayonne a couple of weeks ago. It was quite good. reminded me of Whistling Straits. I took the photos before our round started and there was no wind. By the back 9  the wind picked up. The wind makes it a different course. Here's a link to photos. I wish I had taken them during the round when the flag was fluttering. You can sometimes see the flag when you fly in to EWR.  http://sports.websho...583240735yJLufw

I played Liberty back in May.  I heard they lowered their entry fees dropped to about $300K and must spend something like $44k on services that includes caddies, guests and orter ammenities.

1) Agreed; although I am willing to give Liberty National another shot after all of these supposed renovations
2) What type of desk? I am guessing not prime brokerage haha

I have played Liberty about 20 times.  Used to take a helicopter from the city and get dropped off behind the short game practice area.  It's a very tough course.  Tiny fairways, thick rough and fescue everywhere.  The cart paths are ridiculous.  They are made out of pavers.  If they were painted yellow you would see the tin man and the lion.  I forget how many pavers it took but I was blown away when they told me.  Pro-V range balls.  The halfway house is a friggin supermarket where you take what you want and just write down what you took.  We used to see Mayor Guliani and Eli Manning, Phil was there one day....theres always someone famous there.  The super short par 3 on the back is an awesome hole.  hitting into a really wide but super skinny green surrounded by fescue. (if you miss the green, good luck finding your ball !!) But the coolest part is that the statue of liberty is right next to you!
It's a special place and if you guys ever get to play it, take your time and enjoy it.

Played at Bayonne today and have also played Liberty.  Bayonne is the better of the two courses and its like nothing else this side of the Atlantic.  Place is incredible and in awesome shape for this time of year.  Will definitely be going back in the spring to play with a buddy and some members.
