The 36 hole facility I work for is bringing me into the shop after 6 months of hard work washing carts, and picking range balls. I'm finally getting my shot and want to develop my own style. The guys who work in the shop now are all older and retired. It's like an ashworth runway show in there. Im looking for a young fresh look with out being too gaudy or over the top. Maybe Travis mathew, adidas, or UA? I'm pretty confident in my ability to dress myself but I'd like some outside the box ideas here. Thanks!

Not exactly, if you read my OP I'm just looking for some different brands that I may not have considered. This is a forum and it's just a topic for discussion. Is this your way of trying to help? If other people have tried newer bands and liked the fit I'd like to know so they can be considered. I'll take the input I recive along with my own and go from there. Did you only read the first two sentences?

Not a big fan of Puma or Nike. I do like UA and own quite a bit of their articles. I was just looking for something more GQ with a younger flair.

I'm surprised the shop doesn't require shop employees to wear what they sell?

That's what I was thinking.  Say you are decked out in Travis Matthew or Puma but the shop doesn't carry it.  Some guy comes in and likes what the OP is wearing and wants to buy the shirt.  What do you do? Tell the guy to go down the street to buy it?

I really like the shirts from AUR, can't comment I the pants though. I've got a crap ton of golf specific pants but some of my favorite pants are non golf brands with a nice modern fit, and then I've added a v-hem to them to make em a little more "golfy."

Checkout fairwaystyles.com, they've got some cool brands but some can be a little spendy for my tastes.

Also, sorry for my original post, I'm not a dick, just hadn't had my coffee yet haha.

Ralph Lauren's RLX line is nice & I just ordered some stuff from the Ralph Lauren website they are offering 25% off sale item prices.  Some pretty good prices.  Good luck with your new job/position:)

Bubba's "Golf Boys" style would be unique.

Put aside what you are a "fan" of. This is about business, not personal taste. Nike is the apparel market share leader for a reason.

I think it also depends the type of people that are coming through.  The public muni customers may not spend on apparel the way they might at a CC. So you have to consider the cost of your products.

Stock what you see people in the area wear and not what you see people wearing on TGC.

Wear what your shop sells to help promote sales. Its a small thing that goes along way. Plus your employee discount should help. If you feel you need to go past what they offer do it with your pants. Most people only will comment on the shirt your wearing anyways.

At the pro shop I am at, UA shirts are sold for under 50 dollars.  I see them in other places for 80 sometimes.  I think no matter what you get, find a good price or purchase items that are cheaper cost for the course so that you can sell them cheaper.  Sometimes I wonder why pro shops have such a large upcharge on items.

I understand that some will pay anything for a shirt from a golf course, I just think it is suitable to have less expensive items.  I think it creates a more inviting area to shop in when someone feels like prices are reasonable.

JMHO, but I think puma's market is a smaller percentage of golfers than brands like UA, Adidas, Nike.

Page and Tuttle shirts are also very nice.

Pay attention to the body shape/size of your customers. Age profile as well. My CC ordered a bunch of modern bright shirts. But the membership is older and typical overweight Americans.
Guess what will be featured for the year end sale? Bright colored shirts that are too small for most of the members and shorts that no one can wear.
Based on what I am seeing the golf industry seems to think the majority of their customers are svelte young people.
Companies that carry tall sizes and waist sizes larger than 42.

I would go with something that's simple, not over-the-top colorful, like RLX or Aquascutum.  Make the guys you work with feel bad about their beer guts.  Tasteful, but fitted.

Exactly what I was going to write. This isn't about you. It's about your clientele and what they want.

Great feed back from all angles. This is exactly what I was looking for.  I love you guys, and this site! I suppose it would be a good time to tell you about the clientele, seeing as a lot of responses reference that aspect. I work for a municipal golf course in a city that Is currently bankrupt. Everyone who plays there or has a membership is either broke or really tight. If they weren't they would play at one of the many options near by that are in better condition. We don't sell much merchandise. It's a shame, because we don't really even try. There are maybe two racks with shirts on them. I couldn't even wear a different shirt every day of the week if I went that route. I do like the idea though. Maybe I'll mix it in. Anyways, it is all about me. I'm trying to take this opportunity and make the best of it. If I wear something unique and classy that draws attention, I'll be remembered and considered when people come to me for lessons, apparel, equipment, etc. I mean, you only feel as good as you look right? I value and respect everyone's opinion. Even if sometimes I don't like it. *cough* *fore_life* *cough* I'm going to look into these brands. Dress sharp as a tac and help promote fashion in our shop and sell the crap out of some merchandise. Then you guys can take all the credit!

Im a huge fan of Nike and Adidas golf apparel.

I would go with Adidas for the wide range of different styles. They have basic solid neutral colors, basic stripes, and a lot of nice flashier attire. Also since Adidas already owns ashworth it shouldnt be an issue at all to keep both in the shop.

Your thinking about stuff way beyond your position/pay grade, as a newbie, im sure you what to make the right impression so concentrate on being smart, polite, cautious, professional, reliable and your own “style” will emerge.

Congratulations on the new position, enjoy.

If the people coming to your shop are broke, running out racks of high end clothes isn't going to sell any merchandise.
