I the opportunity to play Victoria National in Newburgh, IN this week and all I can say is WOW, WOW, WOW!!!!  Easily in the top 5 golf courses I have ever played, probably more like top 3.

From the time we arrived at the gate, to the Pro V1 range balls, to unreal clubhouse, you knew this was going to be a special golf course.  One of the most beautiful pieces of property I have ever stepped foot on.

Here are a few photos I managed to take when I thought about it... I thought I took a lot more, really wished I had.

I played last year after they had a tourney that morning.  They had the greens running around 13 I was told.  It is an amazing golf course,  they were very complimentary on TV for the web.com tour event.  I think it's the hardest course I have ever played too!!!  It wouldn't suck to be a member....

I was fortunate to be a competitor at the 2006 US Senior Am at Victoria National.  I believe it was built on an old coal strip mine by Tom Fazio.

Beautiful place, maybe the best greens I have ever seen.

Great course.  I found it to be one the more difficult courses I've ever played.

It is indeed a difficult course.  I had a great ball striking round there, but the greens got me on the front.  I play to a 5.5 and shot 81 from the 6,600 yard tees which I was very pleased with.  I hit 7 of 9 greens on the front and shot 42.  Man, you have to hit those greens in the correct quadrant or you will have some very difficult putts.  I average about 31 putts per round, and had 38 at VN.  It was a great day of golf though... would go back and play that course anytime.

I had the opportunity to spend the day at Victoria back in the spring of 2012.  From the moment I pulled into the parking lot I was treated like a member and everyone greeted me with a real smile and made me feel right at home.  It is truly a special place.  Victoria is easily the best course I have played in Indiana, and is in the top 3 of course I have ever played.  While a lot of the difficulty is the visual intimidation, you also have to hit quality shots or you are not going to score well (or find your ball), however even if you shoot a big number you will have a great time doing it.  If you are ever invited to play at Victoria National do your self a favor a do not pass it up.
