Anyone ever compared these two putters? I have a Squareback 1 and have been checking out the SS7 recently.

Hands down the SS7!  The looks, feel and pure roll!

Two different headshapes - if you want something similar to the SC Squareback you could look into a Bettinard Boxcar/Slotcar, or a BB36 which is just more compact.  But if it's for curiosity's sake, I've owned an SS7 and a SC Squareback and the SS7 had a softer feel (Soft Carbon Steel with a FIT face) versus the more firm feel of the SC (Stainless Steel).  Both put a good roll on the ball, but I was more drawn to the Half Moon headshape of the SS7 and was more consistent with it, albeit I'm not a huge fan of double-bend necks.  So, if you like the buttery-soft feel of Carbon Steel with that extra-soft addition of the FIT face, go with the SS7; however, if you like a more firm feeling, maintenance free putter go with the Squareback.

I've played the Squareback #1 for a couple of years and really enjoy it but being the HO that I am have been eyeing custom made putters. I have sent pics and specs of my scotty to my machine shop and am hoping they can make me one in a similar shape but out of carbon steel instead of stainless and a nice machined face. Really looking forward to seeing what they can come up with. Oh, and it won't cost me anything directly, lol
