I think nike needs to drop the VR title and pick up something new. Their entire line is tied to Tiger. I know he has 3 wins and is there marque player but I think they need to branch out some.
Who should they put out front then, Wie and Casey?  I don't see anyone in my travels playing their equipment.  Most purists either have mizuno or old titleist stuff.  I'm not being a smarty, but after reading they won't SW a driver for their staff players...I'm just not sure why they continue to try so hard.  I am glad they have Carl playing well for them....cheeseburgers and beer...and golf.

I do think it would be hard for them to improve upon the classic blade design.  Seems pretty good right now to me.  Our local guys are on Nike staff and rave about the vr_s driver, but their upcharge pricing is super prohibitive compared to competitors.

I dont think it needs to be built towards or under any player. Should got the titleist route and stick with a few random numbers and letters.

The Nike 20XI driver or something like that. Have It be the Nike ONE driver. etc...etc.

Local course here had the VRS drivers at $149. I'm really thinking about picking one up next payday. I love the head and could easily find a good shaft to pair w it.

Wynd pics Tues Part 4. Look down to Scott's bag and there's a couple 6 irons for ya.

Look closer... The iron on the right is the old TW blade. It has "V10" on the hosel.

Cool

I saw the VR Pro LE for $149 and might just pick one up for the hell of it.  But I heard the stock shafts are garbage.

Really like Nike drivers (glued).  Not too many companies with open face drivers.

hey all: Not to get off the subject ,but with so many companies offering an adjustable driver these days that is suppose to make club fitting easier  then why have there been so many comments from people on golfwrx saying they'd rather have a glued in hosel on their driver and fwd's? Also how is the performance of the Nike Dymo fwd because I like the look and you can get them cheap these days? Thanks :smilie_nike:

I would expect more from Nike in the VRS Forged line... with the crazy back orders they had plus people that have played them love them. Semmed like a big win for Nike.

Yea and the Nike Jumpman brand should totally drop their ties to Michael Jordan it's not like that guy has won anything recently... Come on man iconic athletes are rare and Tiger IS the whole reason for Nike Golf's existence

I only saw a local muni course list the VR_s driver for $150, not something I've seen in stores.

Yeah...Jordan doesn't play anymore, I say drop that line too.

In 2009 the Jordan brand posted $1b+ sales rev accounting for 5% of NIKE's overall revenue. While NIKE golf experienced a decline in 2011, the company as a whole is posted nearly $22b in revenue for the year. Jordan, Vick, Lebron, Tiger...they've all had had issues with the public but you have to hand it to NIKE, they've all been polarizing figures that pump up sales for products; and that's the business NIKE is in.

Basically, love him or hate him (Jordan or Tiger), NIKE realizes that each division (footwear/golf) was built upon the image of 2 individuals and they will continue to bet on them to anchor and grow those brands into the future.

My .02 anyway.

I'm not sure where you read this, but it seems unlikely that they wouldn't do it for their tour players and they did it for me.  I know I'm not that special.  All of my Nike clubs--driver, fwy, and irons--were ordered with a non-stock custom swing weight.  They were all spot on.

The difference, at least to me is that the jumpman is a brand in and of its self.   Its almost seperate from nike.  Kindov like the Tiger woods brand. Hats, shirts, etc.

I am not saying drop Tiger, or tiger as a brand. Just that I think that they should not name their clubs after him. I know that most of their other staffers have not done much this year but I my opinion is that they should not let a staffer no matter who it is get bigger than the brand.

They don't name their clubs after Tiger. VR isn't even really "Victory Red" anymore. While it's still an acronym, they dropped the longform part of it to move away from the association and scandal. I get what you're saying, and it's not invalid because plenty of people feel the way you do. NIKE is (or was) in a pretty tough spot using his name.

Renaming the VR line isn't going to do much good, though. As long as TW is the marquee player, their best clubs, or any clubs for that matter, will always be associated with him. I don't see it as lose-lose, but it's true, he isn't Jordan. Only time will tell if having him associated with the brand (or pushing the TW brand) will be a good thing.

I'm very anxious to see what they have to offer. I play a VRS driver now. Love it. Was about to pull the trigger on the VRS forged cavity backs but wanted something with a thinner profile. Hope they come up with a thin profile iron back like the  t**-less AP2.
