That wouldn't be too bad to check out in person. There's one event where you can really see the players getting into things.

I've looked for an active LPGA forum and couldn't find one either. It's really shocking to me and puts the popularity of women's sports into perspective. I mean you can find ANYTHING online, but you can't find an active forum for one of the most popular professional women's sports in the world.

If you get a chance......pick Belen Mozo or Natalie.....you won't regret it.

I guess it's because no one really cares. My wife is an avid golfer and plays golf with her lady friends from the CC. Not one of them is the least interested in a LPGA forum. Who really wants to watch a bunch of overweight Korean women win almost every tournament? I guess the American women need to play better!
Well, there are a few of us women golfers who care, but sadly, many do not. Your wife is typical of the ladies golf association at my club. We have over 175 members and I can name maybe a dozen who follow the LPGA seriously. And we're all the lowest handicappers in the club. I do think you're quite wrong about the "overweight" Korean women. There's only a very few that I can think of. Have you actually seen them in person? You'll find they are quite tiny & TV adds some weight. They are mostly all very "fit".

I also think the Australian announcers doing the LPGA tournaments during the past few weeks are absolutely horrendous. They add nothing to the broadcast and drive me nuts, so I record & watch the tournaments later, fastforwarding thru the considerable BS.
Are you Rali?...your thought processes are eerily similar to a lady from the GC boards who lives in New Mexico.....guess who I was?
Some gals wear 'provocative" clothing because it is a business decision for them...$$$$....to a male dominated market (customers).
I didn't mind the Oz announcers...I was surprised on their knowledge of the LPGA pros and other players....unless someone from the LPGA was speaking into their ear piece for info.
e.g.) I got advise that Portland John was on Ariya's bag.
So can you say you prefer CG's Tom Abbott's girly voice and giggles.
Yes, no one can touch Rankin.
Hello Mr3putt.....how ya doin? I think TGC's boards just became way too brutal & with too many trolls!

There isn't an active LPGA forum because this is the kind of post that is bound to appear there. And then, there's nothing left to discuss, as the accomplishments of these young ladies are instantly tarnished and devalued by some Internet lowlife.

Yup, Mr3putt...I see Doc Holliday (another alias), , Joro1234, StormingZ (Arkron Man), Papi and Georgy Boy are still at GC bantering over nothing.
How about that idiot JohnDoak.....lol.
I assume FW is too far to drive to watch Angela at the new Dallas event?....you live in a golf event dead zone.
Let's face it ......Ji Ya, In-Bee, & ShanShan aren't exactly ripped...I saw them here in Aug in Van City....what an event.....I had been previously watching Lydia on GC b4 the CN CWO.....just shows how Canada knows talent and the 1st LPGA event to offer Lydia a sponsor's invite......lol.
I'm one of 400,000 Chinese and there are 40,000 Koreans in greater Vancouver...you'd be hard pressed to find a really chubby 20 something Asian gal here.
You know......Chinese don't really eat each night......sweet & sour chicken balls, hot & sour soup, egg rolls, chow mein and BBQ duck.
We eat the nasty stuff....this includes some of my favs,......tripe, tongue, chicken feet, tendon, kidney etc....kinda like an Aitkins or South Beach diet...high protein....low carbs to keep slim.....lol.

Hit em straight, young lady!!!!
I know the South Beach diet.....I'm a believer! But life is not worth living if you can't have a burger & fries once in a great while! And I'm well acquainted with John Doak, a piece of work for sure. He never would answer my very logical questions, even though he said he answered everyone. He wasn't worth wasting any time with. How's your game? Mine's been pretty good lately.....managing to be in the upper 70's now & then, when the putter's hot.
Hope yours' is good as well.

I've played in quite a few LPGA pro-ams in the past 15 years....You really don't get to pick unless you're a top dollar sponsor. The LPGA Tournament that was hosted at my club for many years died a slow death because of, among other things, the lack of success of the pro-ams. Unfortunately, there were a lot of ams that contributed time and money and had horrible experiences in the pro-am. Sad, but true. I played for years and after back-to-back years of bad experiences......just didn't feel like it anymore.
To be fair - There is an adjustment period when other cultures enter into any environment. But people paying thousands of dollars to play 18 or 36 holes of golf expect, rightfully, some basic politeness and, if possible, a good time. My city lost it's tournament because of a lack of people willing to volunteer, host and participate in the running of the tournament. Sponsores present and willing to put up the money - but no tournament.
I'm hopeful that Whan will be able to pull off something and get a tournament back.......

Glad your game is still sound.
My game is a shambles right now.
Coincidentally, today is my 1 yr anniversary.....I quit smoking.....since that day I've struggling to break 80....it's my story and I'm sticking to it....lol.
I guess I can't let my anger out with a smoke after a 3 putt or a crap hole....lol....so I take out my anger on 2 sticks of gum...lol
So I've been debating on being happier on the course and give up my health to chomp on the cancer sticks...only kidding.
My golf brain is gone.....and I didn't even have scandal like TW doing porno stars and Waffle House servers.
I've had a cap between 5-7 for the last 30 yrs....now I play like a 10=11.....having to struggle to break 80.
I normally like to play once a week...it's been so bad.....I quit playing last Oct and got out twice in the last 3 weeks.....I've obviously lost club head speed with the lay off.
But we are in our wet winter season....so it's not as if I've missed out on great golfing weather.
I told myself I'll be back in June.
The Golf Gods are not kind people....or at least to me.....lol.
PS....do you like my avatar pic?????......lol

A friend who played in the 2012 CN CWO told me the draw method was........get picked at random out of a hat....then they could chose any pro in the pool.
He said CN plucked out Paula....maybe MW b4 the draw began.
His company got drawn 2nd and they picked Natalie.
I met another guy...his company drew very low and picked Ryu and could not have been happier....no surprise,,,,,Ryu is a doll.
Yes, other events have different draw methods.
Hmmmmm....I think you are talking about the now defunct State Farm......right?
How can so many pro-am groups have a lousy experience?....Kerr can only play in one group.
OK....I believe you are talking about drawing an Asian born pro with poor English skills.
Yes, all the Asian pros are polite, but a smile and nod for 5 hrs and nothing else makes for a boring time.
Spain needs to beef up their golf academies.
5 hrs with Belen and you can then die and go to heaven....Vamos!!!!

I'll take it a step further. No one cares about it regardless of if it's American golfers winning or not. The women's tour does not have the history behind it that the men's tour does, so even the major championships don't feel like major championships. The Kraft Nabisco has only been a major for 30 years, which is a joke compared to all of the men's majors.
You have a pretty mediocre men's tour event in San Antonio this week with a prize fund that is 3 times bigger than a women's major. The men's regular Tour event is shown on NBC while the women's major is lucky to get coverage on Golf Channel.
At the end of the day, people don't want to watch women play the game. They want to watch the men because the men hit the ball further, have much deeper fields, play on more difficult setups, and have a lot more compelling history in the game overall. More women by far are interested in the Masters next week than the Kraft Nabisco this week. Just the way it is and always will be.

Not likely to be an ongoing trend. A few times per year some of the top Asians aren't entered, and simultaneously the other premier Asians have a dull event. That enables lesser players to nab spots they otherwise couldn't attain. Americans took advantage this time.
Stacy Lewis is a threat every week. Lexi can win on certain courses, but if she does it's likely to be two rounds of 64 mixed with a pair of 72s. She's anything but consistent. Paula is actually underrated right now. She still does so many things well and her matchup record against top foes remains very good, along with scoring average. Paula needs one more foot per putt on the short to midrange ones...some conviction to remove all the burned edges.
Otherwise, I don't know who the Americans can depend on. Kerr and Stanford are off to their worst starts in recent memory and that's not automatically brushed off, considering both are now beyond 35. Lincicome seemingly hasn't fully applied herself since 2011. Korda is doing well now but she is likely second tier at best, a fringe top 20 or 30 talent at this stage. Likewise with Kang. Salas is a nice player who won't scare the Asians, same with Piller.
I've noted the mention in this thread of lack of athleticism and explosive power in the women's game. Lorena retired absurdly early. Yani is off form right now. Those two are as wiry and powerful as you'll see on the LPGA, and in the perfect 5-6 height range. Stacy is 5-5 and also has developed timing and power. I realize nobody wants to hear it but too often the ones with the so-called ability to compress the ball are in the naturally erratic zone of 5 foot 8 or taller, players like Lincicome, Lexi and Wie. You simply won't hear from them on a regular basis. They are compressing off camera and into the left rough.
With the same players in contention weekly, you know what you'll get from a fashion standpoint, or lack thereof. Na Yeon Choi understates her figure, apparently determined to avoid attention in that area. Jiyai Shin and Inbee Park provide the chunky white pants look. I think one of those is plenty. No need for two. Pettersen has lost weight and is sporting white pants too frequently. Shanshan grows her belly bulge and jowls in dependable unison, to the point I close my eyes and seldom notice what she's wearing. So Yeon Ryu is very pretty and terrifically classy but she's about 1-2 pounds lacking in each cheek. Sad. Needs to borrow from Paula, perhaps in exchange for some putting confidence.
Lexi has a collection of stupid shoes. Turn them off. Azahara looks great without even trying. I'm not sure she realizes it. Imagine if she tried. Beatriz still looks good but has toned it down too much, with the unvarying shorts. Too bad she's focusing so much on golf. Korda needs to gain 10 pounds, which is half what Salas can spare. Kerr is playing so poorly I'm not sure if she's in one of her semi-chunky stages or if she's lost it back. Stanford leads the tour in bland khaki.
Hee Kyung Seo is the best dresser out there but she's still in a funk after blowing two majors in short order, the 2011 US Open and 2012 Nabisco. She's due to rescue her game, perhaps in a flash. Once it happens and if she bends over enough I suspect some of the complaints regarding LPGA dress code will fade.
This thread seemed like the appropriate venue. I didn't even remember what I wrote until this thread was bumped tonight. That's the way I wrote every day, way back at the college paper at USC. No need to stay on topic. The coaches hated it but it always drew reaction from students and professors when I stumbled into class. I actually had morning classes once in a while. Hard to believe. Should have been an A for attendance alone.

Why are women am golfers more interested in men's tour than the tour they can at least somehow relate to?

That's an interesting question, my guess is that they would rather watch the mens tour for the (apparant) sole reason most men watch the ladies, eye candy. A handful of girls I know who are sports fans, not golf fans, will watch the guys but have no interest in watching a bunch of girls. I guess it's that way in the ladies golfing world too. I doubt the history of the game has very much to do with whether they watch or not, how many girls would know who Bobby Jones was? They might have heard of Jack, maybe...
I know I'm in the minority but tbh honest, I go out of my way to make sure I see as much womens golf as possible, the guys I can take or leave. I've actually stopped recording the guys of late. As an avid golfer who doesn't hit it 300yds the mens game has actually become quite dull. They play courses I wouldn't even want to go near, let alone play, basically they all bomb and gouge and he who has a hot putter wins. Sure it's impressive but it bears zero resemblamce to the golf I know, the girls on the other hand play courses I can relate to and do things I could do (very occasionanlly). I'll never in my wildest dreams be as good as they are but at least it looks like golf.
Maybe there's something in that too, most of the ladies I've seen couldn't relate to what the LPGA girls do so they figure they may as well watch the guys??

Speaking of the Kraft Nabisco, a major championship with a corporate sponsor plastered on the name is not good. Is Kraft Nabisco always going to sponsor it? Probably not, which hurts the branding of the tournament over time if/when it changes names again. The Masters is the Masters. The U.S. Open is the U.S. Open. The Open Championship is the Open Championship. The PGA Championship is the PGA Championship. No stupid sponsor names attached to those four tournaments because they are special enough to not require that.

I agree that sponsor name with major is not perfect, but perhaps necessary to get money. I bet those men´s tournaments are special because of the lack of named sponsor.
