It's time for a new bag.  I currently have a 4 under and generally liked the bag.  I walk 90% of the time so weight is my biggest concern.  That said there were some features with this bag that I didn't like:  drooping legs, club tangling, and general "cheapness".  I've owned Ping bags for over 20 years and the 4 under was by far their most poorly constructed bag I've owned.

I am going to purchase a 4 series or a Hoofer.  I've owned serveral hoofers and switched the 4 under for size and weight.  It appears that Ping has addressed most of the quality issues the 4 under (now 4 series).  However, there are some changes with the 4 series I don't like, mainly the removal of the pen/pencil holder.  I also don't care for the umbrella holder on the 4 under, but it appears this has been addressed as well with a cinch.

My biggest concern with the Hoofer is size and weight.  The 2012 Hoofer appears to lighter than previous models.  I also like the additional pockets now that I am carrying a laser.

Which bag would you recommend and why?

An update:  I purchased a 2012 4 series. Walked 9 holes tonight. Great bag, big improvement over the 4 under. Stronger material, nice straps, better leg system, and much easier to get clubs in and out of bag. Storage is about the same, a little heavier but the improvements are well worth it. The only downfall is the elimination of the pen holder. I would highly recommend this bag.

Thanks for the input.  I am in the same boat as you.  Currently playing with a Ping Pioneer cart bag and a Cleveland carry bag with a broken stand.  Took a closer lood today at the Hoofer and 4 Series.  I liked the hoofer for the space and the 4 Series for the weight.  The 2013 bags will be out soon enough with some new colors.
