I don't want to do that wave thing every time someone on a motorcycle passes me.

LOL. Posts on motorcycle forums about "to wave or not to wave" are just as long and get just as heated as the GI/SGI, forged, CB, blades posts on this forum.

wow... you are a lazy azz.  Its a simple sign of respect to fellow bikers.  I am sure they feel if you dont want to wave they would rather you not get a bike.  Out of all the reasons, such as high insurance, death rates, accidents etc your concern is you dont want to wave.  I can see you as that guy in the car who never lets anyone in and doesnt wave to say thanks when someone lets you in,

Just give a head bob like " what up"?  NO one knows if you hit a bump, or are aknowledging them. Or go with a low nonchalant deuce?  Or you could just let it go, wave and worry about other more important things, like trying not to die on a bike.

Waving is not a sign of respect. It's just an acknowledgement that you share an interest in riding.Motorcycling has gotten so specialized now (cruisers, sportbikes, tourers) that it's not uncommon to pass a group of riders and none of them wave because you're not riding THEIR style or brand of motorcycle.

Waving is not a hard and fast rule. It's an individual thing....you either wave or you don't.

its a personal choice. All I know is Harley riders tend to wave, and being one myself, I'm proud of that.

I'm calling BS on this one.  I rode a BMW for years and years and NEVER had a Harley rider wave to me. If you rephrase it to " Harley riders wave to other Harley riders" I'd agree with you.

Same here. I rode a sportsbike for years and rarely had anyone on a Harley wave back to me.

To the OP, just look the other direction like passing someone you don't want to talk to in a hallway. :derisive:

I'll only acknowledge fellow golfers on a course if they wear a titleist hat. Anyone who wears a TM hat gets the middle finger, some choice words about their sexual relationship with their mother and I'll also question the marital status of their parents.

As a citizen of the UK, I see how this may be your breaking point.
For me, I own a Club Car.  I won't wave at losers driving Textron products.  If they are driving a lesser product I may get out and go Rappleye Jr. on their a**.

I have a jeep and it's the same deal. A lot of them don't wave back. No big deal either way but I almost always at least acknowledge them. Sometimes I don't because I'm just shifting and steering at the same time or can just see the soccer mom driving a 4 door that has never had the top off.... I even catch myself waving when driving my wife's Honda pilot. I get some looks there.

In the end, buy it and do what you want to do.

I used to ride a sport bike, and always had all types of bikers wave, including Harley riders. I have ridden motorcycles all my life (mainly dirt) but from my experience on street you'll have 2 different waves. Many will point 2 fingers towards the ground when passing, which is self explanatory. Others will just wave.........

Lol! Save that for when a bunch of Hell's Angels pass by. They'd get a real kick out of that.

Don't wave. I doubt they'll turn around and come after you for not "respecting" them by waving.
