Ok, so I pull up to the range today to pick up some wedges and the Mizuno rep happened to be there as well. He gave the whole marketing angle on the new line up and I was all ears to hear what ge had to say. He talked about how the woods should make a huge impact for them thi year, supposed to have their players using them instead of other brands. He talked about the new mp64's. And about how the mp53's are no longer in the line up. He said the 64's were like combining the 63's and 53's, so they just stayed with one model and dropped the 53's all together. I saw the new wedges which were quite nice and also saw the new jpx825 pro. He mentioned The new mph4 iron were badged to be the ap2 killer. They looked nice but far from what the ap2 represents. They were huge long irons and midsize mid irons with normal compact short irons.
So he says go ahead and hit what you want, I grabbed the driver and the jpx 825 pro. Really don't like the 64's. I was really impresse with the 825's. They are much more compact than the 800's. Where the 800's felt kind of harsh, the 825's were pure butter. He said they made the sweet spot bigger also, which is fantastic in such a compact head. They are pretty long as well, I was routinely hitting 6 iron at the 195 green and landing them softly. Working the ball was easily done, and my thin mishits were covered pretty well also. Maybe losing 5 yards at most. Ball flight can be manipulated, but high long and straight is the norm. I tried all the shots, low hooks, low cuts, draws and fades. All were possible as long as you have the means to do so. I can away very impressed, and am looking forward to bagging them when they come out. As a player that always hits blades and shallow cavities, but looking for a bit more help on off days, these fit the bill perfectly. Nice set up, not too big, and not too small.
