Ok, so I pull up to the range today to pick up some wedges and the Mizuno rep happened to be there as well. He gave the whole marketing angle on the new line up and I was all ears to hear what ge had to say. He talked about how the woods should make a huge impact for them thi year, supposed to have their players using them instead of other brands. He talked about the new mp64's. And about how the mp53's are no longer in the line up. He said the 64's were like combining the 63's and 53's, so they just stayed with one model and dropped the 53's all together. I saw the new wedges which were quite nice and also saw the new jpx825 pro.  He mentioned The new mph4 iron were badged to be the ap2 killer. They looked nice but far from what the ap2 represents. They were huge long irons and midsize mid irons with normal compact short irons.

So he says go ahead and hit what you want, I grabbed the driver and the jpx 825 pro. Really don't like the 64's. I was really impresse with the 825's. They are much more compact than the 800's. Where the 800's felt kind of harsh, the 825's were pure butter. He said they made the sweet spot bigger also, which is fantastic in such a compact head. They are pretty long as well, I was routinely hitting 6 iron at the 195 green and landing them softly. Working the ball was easily done, and my thin mishits were covered pretty well also. Maybe losing 5 yards at most. Ball flight can be manipulated, but high long and straight is the norm. I tried all the shots, low hooks, low cuts, draws and fades. All were possible as long as you have the means to do so. I can away very impressed, and am looking forward to bagging them when they come out. As a player that always hits blades and shallow cavities, but looking for a bit more help on off days, these fit the bill perfectly. Nice set up, not too big, and not too small.

Did you see the short irons as well or did he just have 6's?

Thank you for the review.

What didn't you like about the MP64's?  I currently have the JPX800's and have had them since October 2010, really looking to upgrade this year to something new, 825pros hopefully will fit the bill.

Hey, thanks for the quick review on the 25's - if you are able, can you do a quick comparison to the 800 Pro's??  I lov mine, cannot imagine improving on them.

He only had the 6 iron, but he did say that all the irons in the set were more compact than the 800's.

Yes, the wedges are fantastic. Very classic looking, huge step forward from previous models. Felt great, like classic mizuno forgings. They still have that rounded toe, but not as much as last years model.

64's to me we're bigger looking than the 63's, to be honest I when felt they looked a little cheap. The diamond back is still there much much much bigger than the 63's. They are using the diamond back to raise and lower the cg as well as move weight to the sides.

Ok, this was intriguing to me. The driver looked almost exactly like the original superfast tp. Very triangular looking. He said it is available with 2 shafts, one the 55 fuji and also a 75 fuji quaz something. He didn't have my specs but I did hit the 9.5 with the 55 stiff. Would have preferred the 10.5 with 75 stiff. It sounded very muted, not loud at all. Very nice high flight, and he said they all come square face and neutral weighting. I found it to be draw biased but he said it was because it didn't fit my swing. Very nice looking head, and a vast improvement compared to their drivers of the past.

Ok, a comparison , well to me it's night and day. I did not like the 800's at all. I thought they were far too big and felt hard and clicky at impact, especially for a mizuno iron. They fixed all that and then some. They are far more compact, topline is about the same, sole grind is better too me, same offset, and best of all, they did these changes all the while making them more forgiving. It's a win win.

Great review, can't wait to try out the Pros.  With regard to the MPH4, did you get a chance to hit it?  Your impression was that it was more of a GI iron than the AP2s but how do they compare to the 825 Pros?  Thanks.

I'd be really interested in this as well.  A comparison between the 825 Pro's and the MP-H4s...

Well, the h4's look very mx900's. The long irons are hybrid irons, the mids are chunky like 800 non pros and the shorts are about mx25 size. I don't know how they are calling them ap2 killers, they are huge in comparison. Remind me more like a Adams v3 hybrid set.

No problem on the review fellas, just doing my part for this site. I was picked earlier this year to be a editor reviewer, but haven't been given anything to review as of yet, I love testing and reviewing stuff.

Did you happen to see the regular JPX 825s?  From the pictures, they don't seem as bulky as the 800s.  Thanks.

Wow, MX-900? Really?  Not that that's a bad thing, but I would think they'd be smaller since they're in the MP line.

I agree with you, I was amazed at the size. He talked them up and said they were the ap2 killers and he expected them to be the number one mizuno seller this year, then he pulled them out, and I was like, huh? Really?

I did not look at the regular 825's, they were not a club of interest to me. Sorry.

That just poses the question, how big are the 825 Pro's REALLY?  If they're smaller, that just seems pretty backwards!

I looked at the 825's right next to the 800's, very noticeable difference in the pro versions.

Oh, one thing to add, the rep said that world number 1 Luke Donald was to be switching to the mp64's. Makes sense to me, they are kinda mp62 like. If that's the case, that would be 2 of their top pros switching from the mp59's. The other being ch3

I personally can not. I have never been a huge fan of the Mx series. Back in that time frame I always played blades.
